“The Artistic Touch: Towel Origami and Floral Design”

The Bhikaji Cama Subharti College of Hotel Management, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut successfully organized a skill-oriented workshop titled “The Artistic Touch: Towel Origami and Floral Design” on 30th March 2026. The workshop was designed to enhance the creative and practical competencies of students in the field of housekeeping and hospitality aesthetics.
The session was conducted by distinguished resource persons, Mr. Shailandra Kumar, Assistant Professor at Quantum University, Uttarakhand, along with Mr. Vansh Pandey, a BHMCT 3rd-year student, who assisted as co-resource person. Their combined expertise provided both academic insight and practical exposure to the participants.
The workshop witnessed active participation from 31 students and 4 faculty members. The event was conducted under the leadership of Dr. Indraneel Bose, Head of BCSCHM, whose guidance ensured the smooth execution of the program. The event was effectively coordinated by Dr. Nitin Gupta, Ms. Akansha Sengar, Dr. Saras Verma & Mr. Rohil Bhatnagar Faculties at BCSCHM. And student club ArtistryFold Club & GastroGenius Club.
The session commenced with an introduction to the importance of aesthetic presentation in the hospitality industry, particularly in housekeeping and guest experience enhancement. Mr. Shailandra Kumar elaborated on the role of towel origami as a value-added service in hotels, emphasizing creativity, precision, and attention to detail. He demonstrated various towel folding techniques such as animal shapes, decorative patterns, and bed arrangements, which are commonly used in luxury hospitality settings.
Mr. Vansh Pandey supported the session by assisting in live demonstrations and guiding students during hands-on practice. His involvement helped bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, making the session more interactive and engaging.
The floral design segment focused on basic principles of arrangement, color coordination, and selection of materials. Participants were trained in creating simple yet elegant floral displays suitable for hotel rooms, lobbies, and banquet setups. The hands-on approach enabled students to experiment with designs and develop their own creative styles.
The workshop was highly interactive, with students actively participating in practical exercises and clarifying their queries with the resource persons. The session not only enhanced their technical skills but also encouraged innovation and artistic expression.
In conclusion, the workshop proved to be a valuable learning experience, equipping students with essential skills relevant to the hospitality industry. It successfully fulfilled its objective of blending creativity with professional application, thereby contributing to the holistic development of the participants.
