Uni Mentor Fest (Sports) 2023
Like every year, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University has celebrated Uni Mentor Fest (Sports) 2023 on 2nd and 3rd March 2023 organized by the University Sports Committee. In the two day fest Table Tennis, Tug of War, Volleyball, and some Athletic events have been played by the Subhartian Faculties. The presence of Deans, HOI’s and Faculties of different Departments made the grand opening of the fest.
The opening of this event has been honored by University Vice Chancellor Maj Gen G.K. Thapliyal with the Table Tennis event in the Department of Physical Education; he handled the paddle for a while and also delivered a wonderful message “Sport is the most important part of our life”. The opening of the event took place amongst a great crowd and was very competitive and exciting; with every single match the joy and cheer from both participants and audience went to the next level. Faculties during the event tried their hands on table to play friendly matches and released their stress.
The event got great success with the involvement of all the faculties of Department of Physical Education under the supervision of Chairman, USC and Dean, Faculty of Education Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Kumar, planned and executed by Secretary, USC Dr. Praveen Kumar, along with Dr. Divesh Chaudhary, Dr. Manju Adhikari, Dr. Deepak Raghav, Dr. Atul Tiwari, Mr. Arun Vasthav, Ms. Soniyan Rana played a very crucial role in the arrangements and execution of the event.
Post event refreshment was provided to the participants. The event was played by participants in three categories in which Er. Mayankeshwar Singh (SITE College), Ms. Soniya Rana (Faculty of Education), and Miss. Soniya Rana and Dr. Manju Adhiakri (Faculty of Education) secured 1st position in Singles Men, Women and Doubles Women respectively.
On the next day the fest headed towards Athletic events which were the very base of Games in the presence of Secretary-USC Dr. Praveen Kumar.
The participation in Athletics caught everyone’s eye, faculties of different Departments were waiting for their turn to perform and experience the joy and excitement. In the event Dr. Shashi Teotia (College of Science) and Dr. Aparna (Faculty of Fine Arts) secured the 1st position in the men’s and women’s category respectively.
Post Shot put, 100m and 200m events took place, in which there was a tough fight which made the decision making with inexperienced normal eyes impossible. In the event Mr. Rahul (Faculty of Paramedical Sciences) and Dr. Neha (Faculty of Fine Arts) were 100m sprint winners in their respective category. Along with this 200m event also took place in which Dr. Ashvini (College of Science) and Ms.
Soniya Rana (Faculty of education) secured 1st position.
The most popular and faculty demanding event Tug of War brought excitement and competitive spirit amongst everyone. It also became the most enjoyable event of the entire fest with everyone participating to defeat their opponent using their strength. The event was contested by the Faculty of Sciences with a tough fight by Polytechnic College.
Later on the day, in the presence of University Vice Chancellor Maj Gen G.K Thapliyal 4x100m mixed relay took place. In which the Faculty of Education secured 1st position.
The last event of the fest was volleyball. Every team played with high energy and strategy to compete with other teams. The Faculty of Education was unbeaten in the whole event. The main attraction of the event was Dr. Neha Singh (Faculty of Fine Arts) who led her team through to the finals and showed a very good sportsman spirit. Not only Volleyball but also she participated in other events too.
The specialty of the entire Uni Mentor sports fest is the collaborative involvement of male and female faculties in the team event, where each team had at least two female faculties in their team to compete, which made the event even more exciting and interesting.
