Meerut: Under the joint aegis of National Service Scheme Unit-1 and Ganesh Shankar Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Veer Bal Diwas was organized at the university to commemorate the martyrdom of Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh, the brave Sahibzadas of the tenth Guru of Sikhism, Guru Gobind Singh. The event was organized under the guidelines of the University Grants Commission and the National Service Scheme. Students from the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication and NSS volunteers performed a powerful and thought-provoking role play based on the lives of the two Sahibzadas. The purpose of the event was to instill the values of courage, faith, and truthfulness in the volunteers and students through performative learning.
Students and volunteers portrayed important historical figures such as the brave Sahibzadas Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh, Mata Gujri, and Wazir Khan, demonstrating the ultimate sacrifice made by the Sahibzadas at a very young age. Through their powerful dialogues and expressive performances, the students conveyed the timeless message that “religion is supreme and truth never bows to injustice.”
The role play emotionally highlighted the strong faith, moral strength, and bravery of the Sahibzadas, encouraging the audience to reflect on moral values and appropriate behavior in today’s society. The department’s students, faculty members, and non-teaching staff actively participated in the event, making it a success. The students’ dedication, confidence, and historical understanding during the role play presentation were highly praised. The open-ground performance created a strong visual and emotional impact, helping the message reach a wider audience. Dr. Preeti Singh, Assistant Professor, and Ram Prakash Tiwari, Assistant Professor and Program Officer, NSS Unit 1, coordinated the role play and guided the students throughout the preparation and performance. Their efforts ensured a smooth event and a flawless presentation. The program concluded with applause and reflection, highlighting the importance of the Sahibzadas’ sacrifice in today’s times and the role of youth in maintaining truth, faith, and moral courage.
