Visit to National Lok Adalat
As a part of regular clinical legal practice, students of Sardar Patel Subharti Institute of Law visited the District Court, Meerut to observe the proceedings of National Lok Adalat. The activity was conducted under the guidance of Hon’ble Justice Rajesh Chandra, Former. High Court of Judicature at Allahabad and Prof. (Dr.) Reena Bishnoi, Officiating Dean, Faculty of Law, with the objective of providing students practical exposure to alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and the functioning of Lok Adalat. During the visit, students witnessed how disputes were settled amicably through conciliation and mutual agreement between the parties. The students observed the role of judicial officers, advocates and litigants in facilitating speedy and cost-effective justice. The students also interacted with the DLSA Secretary, Smt. Namrata Singh-I, Addl. Civil Judge (Sr. Div.), Meerut, who explained the significance of Lok Adalat in reducing pendency of cases and promoting access to justice. Students further interacted with the Secretary, Meerut Bar Association, Adv. Parvez Alam, who shared practical insights about advocacy and settlement procedures in Lok Adalat. The interaction helped students understand the importance of negotiation and communication skills in legal practice. The visit enhanced students’ understanding of clinical legal education and encouraged them to appreciate amicable dispute resolution methods. The activity proved to be an enriching learning experience bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. The students were accompanied by faculty members Mr. Ashutosh Deshwal and Mr. Arshad Alam, who guided them throughout the visit.
