Workshop on “Scopus Citation Database”
The department of Library and Information Science, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University organized a one-day workshop on the “Scopus Citation Database” on September 11, 2024. The workshop aimed to provide in-depth information about the Scopus citation database. In which detailed information was provided about Scopus database.
Aishwarya Nayal, Customer Success Manager at Elsevier India (Delhi), served as the resource person. She described Scopus as a comprehensive citation database containing millions of journal articles, books, and conference papers across various fields, including science, technology, medicine, social sciences, and humanities. Scopus tracks article citations and provides data for global rankings of research institutions and universities. The platform focuses on peer-reviewed, high-quality journals, encouraging collaboration and knowledge exchange among researchers worldwide. It also employs data analytics and artificial intelligence to analyze research trends and identify emerging areas of study.
The program was inaugurated by Dr. Sudhir Tyagi, Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences and Head of the Department of Library & Information Science. In his address, Dr. Tyagi emphasized the importance of the Scopus Citation Database in tracking citations, verifying research quality, and assessing the impact of research. He noted that Scopus has become an essential tool for universities and research institutions. All faculty members, including Dr. Javed Khan, Dr. Sapna Sharma, and Dr. Arti, were present at the event. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Rafat Khanam. Over 110 faculty members, research scholars, and students from various departments attended, actively engaging in discussions and asking questions. The event was highly appreciated and successfully achieved its objectives.
