On September 16, 2024, the University Environmental Committee organized a vibrant celebration of World Ozone Day. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of protecting the ozone layer and promoting sustainable environmental practices. The day was marked by an array of activities, with a special emphasis on creative competitions that engad stuents in spreading environmental consciousness.
Competitions Held
- Poster Competition: The poster competition attracted total 56 entries from students across various colleges. Participants showcased their creativity through vibrant and thoughtful designs highlighting the theme of ozone layer protection and climate change. The posters beautifully conveyed the urgency of preserving the ozone layer and the impacts of ozone depletion on ecosystems and human health.
- Calligraphy Competition: In the calligraphy competition, 23 students displayed their artistic writing skills, with entries focusing on environmental slogans and quotes related to the ozone layer. The intricate designs and thoughtful messages impressed the audience, showing how art can be a powerful medium for environmental advocacy.
Judging Panel
The competitions were judged by an esteemed panel, comprising Dr. Aruna Bansal, Associate Professor in Electronics department, and Dr Supratim Saha Associate Professor, an accomplished engineer and environmental activist. Both judges carefully evaluated the entries based on creativity, relevance to the theme, and overall impact.
