Jyotirao Phule Subharti College of Physiotherapy organized a hands-on workshop on “Theraband and Swiss Ball” on 12th April 2022 for the students of BPT 3rd year, BPT 4th year, BPT Interns, and MPT students. The session of workshop started with the Lamp lighting by the esteemed resource person Dr. Saurabh Mathur, Alumni, and Dr. Jasmine Anandabai, Dean & Principal.
The resource person of the workshop Dr. Saurabh Mathur is an Alumni of Jyotirao Phule Subharti College of Physiotherapy of BPT 1999 batch. Currently, he is working as Head Physiotherapist, Prohealth Asia Physiotherapy and Rehab Centre, New Delhi. Earlier he was working as a physiotherapist in Sir Gangaram Hospital in Delhi. After completing his Bachelor in Physiotherapy from JRP SCPT he did his Master’s in Physiotherapy (Musculoskeletal) from England.
The participants learned skills of using Theraband and Swiss Ball for various conditions and disorders. Dr. Saurabh explained the therapeutic techniques using Theraband and Swiss Ball in the management of various musculoskeletal conditions by simplifying the technique and skills required for effective delivery of treatment. During the session, the students practiced the technique among themselves for hands-on experience. The workshop was successful and students were happy with the skills they acquired after the completion of the session.
Skills acquired by the students were :
- Knowledge about the various resistance bands i.e color coding of Theraband.
- Application of Theraband for various exercises of the body for strengthening using bands.
- Stretching and warm exercises using Theraband.
- Theraband exercises for functional fitness training.
- Various balance strengthening and other exercises by using Swiss Ball.
The workshop was organized under the guidance of Dr. Jasmine Anandabai, Dean & Principal, Jyotirao Phule Subharti College of Physiotherapy. Dr. Gaurav Pratap Tyagi was the coordinator for this event.
