- To Raise Environmental Awareness:
- Educate school students, villagers, and participants about the significance of environmental conservation and the role each individual plays in maintaining ecological balance.
- To Promote Tree Plantation:
- Encourage active participation in tree planting activities to combat deforestation, reduce carbon footprints, and enhance green cover in the local area.
- To Foster Community Involvement:
- Engage the local community, including students and villagers, in collective efforts to protect the environment, thereby fostering a sense of responsibility and stewardship.
Activities Conducted:
The campaign included a variety of activities designed to educate, engage, and inspire participants:
- Awareness Sessions:
- Faculty members and student volunteers from Bhikaji Cama Subharti College of Hotel Management conducted interactive sessions with the villagers and school students. These sessions highlighted the importance of environmental conservation, the impact of deforestation, and the benefits of planting trees. Visual aids, such as posters and charts, were used to enhance understanding.
- Tree Plantation Drive:
- The central activity of the campaign was the tree plantation drive. Students, faculty members, and villagers enthusiastically participated in planting saplings in designated areas of Kalanjari Village. The saplings included a mix of fruit-bearing and shade-providing trees, chosen for their adaptability to the local climate and soil conditions.
Species Planted:
- Saplings of mango, neem, and banyan trees were planted during the drive. These species were selected due to their environmental benefits, such as air purification, providing shade, and enhancing soil fertility.
Process:
- Before the planting began, participants were given a brief demonstration on the proper techniques for planting and caring for young trees. This ensured that the saplings would have the best chance of survival and growth.
- Pledge Ceremony:
- At the conclusion of the event, all participants took a pledge to continue protecting the environment in their daily lives. They committed to reducing waste, conserving water, planting more trees, and spreading awareness about environmental issues within their communities.

- Number of people benefitted i.e., 15 students & 10 villagers.
Challenges and Solutions:
While the campaign was largely successful, a few challenges were encountered:
- Logistical Coordination:
- Coordinating the transport of saplings and participants to the remote location of Kalanjari Village required careful planning. To address this, the college arranged for transportation and collaborated with local authorities to ensure smooth logistics.
- Ensuring Sapling Survival:
- Ensuring the survival of the planted saplings was a concern. To mitigate this, participants were provided with guidance on post-planting care, and local villagers were encouraged to take responsibility for watering and protecting the young trees.
The World Environment Day campaign organized by Bhikaji Cama Subharti College of Hotel Management was a resounding success, achieving its objectives of raising awareness about environmental conservation and promoting tree plantation. The active participation of students, faculty members, and the local community ensured that the event was both educational and impactful. As the planted saplings grow, they will serve as a lasting reminder of the collective effort made to protect and preserve the environment. The college remains committed to continuing such initiatives, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility among its students.
