REPORT ON WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
On the occasion of World Environment Day on 5th June 2023, Jyotirao Phule Subharti College of Physiotherapy organized a plantation drive in the garden of JRPSCPT which was organized by Dr. Kayinat Hassan. The focus was to impart awareness of the significance of plants in our lives. The plantation was started by Dr. Amit Kumar Goel and Dr. Raj Kumar Sharma, Associate Professors, JRPSCPT. A total of 23 participants were present in the drive.
Students actively participated in planting the saplings. The participants were educated that plants/trees are the basis of sustaining life on earth. They absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen by Photosynthesis. They also help in reducing soil erosion by binding the soil to their roots. Trees absorb carbon from the atmosphere and store it in their wood and bark, thus slowing the rate of global warming.
They purify our air and combat climate change. Trees provide housing to millions of species that protect us from disease. They protect us against floods and water pollution. Moreover, trees ease the mind during stressful times. Also, plants synthesize hundreds of chemical compounds for various functions, including defense and protection against insects and fungi. The vast array of therapeutic effects associated with medicinal plants includes anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antitumor, antimalarial, and analgesic properties. The event was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Amit Kumar Goel, Associate Professor. The activity ended with a positive attitude towards a forestation.
