OBJECTIVES:
- To create a supportive environment.
- To identify early signs of burnout.
- Treating mental illness
- Improving coping strategies of people who might consider suicide
- Reducing risk factors for suicide, such as poverty
- Giving people hope for a better life after current problems are resolved
PROGRAMME REPORT:
Day : 1 (10/10/18)
The world mental health day was celebrated in Panna Dhai Maa Subharti Nursing College on 10/10/2019 with theme “FOCUS ON SUICIDE PREVENTION”. The day started with chart preparation and rangoli display by the students of GNM 2nd year, B.Sc (N) 3rd year and M.Sc (N) 2nd year. These displays enriched the views with the knowledge of mental health in changing world, its purposes and prevention along with management tips.
The world mental health day theme was introduced by Ex. Capt. Prof. Dr. Geeta Parwanda, Principal of PDMSNC. The theme of 2019 was “FOCUS ON SUICIDE PREVENTION”.
As a part of World Mental Health Day celebration, PANNA DHAI MAA SUBHARTI NURSING COLLEGE organized a Public health awareness Rally on 10/10/19 in Subhartipuram and Subharti university campus.
A rally on mental health awareness was organized under department of Mental Health Nursing. The programme was inaugurated by the Ex.Capt.Prof.Dr. Geeta Parwanda, Principal of PDMSNC, Meerut by 9.30am. By 10’o clock Public Health awareness rally has started. More than hundred students participated in the rally including teachers. Rally started from nursing college via Durga bhagawati complex to 2km around the university area and reached nursing college by 11’0 clock.
Day : 2 (11/10/19)
At 10 am students of GNM 2nd year conducted role-play in CSSH Hospital which depicted or showed the views of “Young people living in situations such as Improving coping strategies of people who might consider suicide and how to maintain good relationship with others”. The role play was attended by the Prof Mrs. Sumita, Asst. Prof Mr. Arun. R, Asst. Prof Mrs. Nisha and Lecturer Ms. Priya, patients with attendees and Students of the nursing college.
The role play had a positive impact on the viewers having behind the ways or technique they can use to cope up with their normal life.
Day:3(12/10/19):
M.sc(N) nursing 2nd year students have given health talk to patients and their relatives regarding management and prevention of suicide and creating of a supportive environment in OPD of general and Psychiatric wards.
Day :4 (14/10/19)
OPD started as per routine. A role play was conducted by B.Sc(N) 3rd year with whole patients and patients relatives based on the theme. Mrs. Sumita (Asso. Prof. in psychiatry) Mr. Arun (Asst. Prof. in psychiatry), supervised the role play. Overall there were a good response by the patients and relatives.
Day : 5 (15/10/19)
At 8:00 am we reached the psychiatric ward and M.sc(N) nursing first year students have given health talk to patients and their relatives regarding management and prevention of suicide and creating of a supportive environment in OPD and Psychiatric wards.
Day : 6 (16/10/18)
A mental health week celebration organized under department of psychiatry, CSSH, Meerut (Collaborative approach). The programme started with lamp lighting by the dignitaries. The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Hon’ble Dr. Gorav Gupta, Delhi by 3:00 Pm .Following the Inauguration session Mental health Day theme was introduced by Dr.Sandeep Choudhary, HOD, Dept of psychiatry, CSSH, Meerut. Dr. Gorav Gupta has given lecturer regarding theme of mental health day. The part of the programme GNM 2nd year students has conducted role play in seminar hall, Subharti medical college, which depicted or showed the views “a young society goes through, when he/she fails to maintain an effective balance between the family and other responsibility”
