The Department of Liberal Arts and Humanities, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, celebrated World Sparrow Day with great enthusiasm and a strong commitment towards environmental sustainability. The event was organized to spread awareness about the declining population of sparrows and to encourage collective efforts for their conservation.
The celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation from students who actively contributed by preparing handmade nests for sparrows using eco-friendly materials. These nests were thoughtfully designed to provide a safe and comfortable habitat for sparrows. The students, along with faculty members, installed these nests at various suitable locations across the Subharti campus, ensuring accessibility and safety for the birds.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Jyoti Gaur, Head of the Department, emphasized the importance of protecting sparrows as an integral part of the ecosystem. She highlighted that small initiatives like providing nests and ensuring a safe environment can play a significant role in restoring the sparrow population. She appreciated the creativity, dedication, and environmental consciousness shown by the students and faculty members.
The event was successfully coordinated by Mr. Kapil Kumar and Dr. Juli, whose efforts ensured smooth execution and active engagement of participants. Among the faculty members present were Mr. Ramprakash Tiwari, Dr. Amrita Chaudhary, Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Dr. Ajay Kumar, Dr. Shalini Singh, Dr. Kiran, and Dr. Mohini Mittal, who extended their support and encouragement throughout the programme.
A large number of students including Tannu, Atul, Alish, Puneet Goswami, Anshika Kaushik, Anushka Jawla, Alice Bhati, Naman, Divya, Divya Chauhan, Sanjana and many others actively participated in the activity. Their involvement reflected a strong sense of environmental awareness and responsibility.
