Academic Tour To Shimla

Four day Academic cum Excursion tour was organized by Sardar Patel Subharti Institute of Law between 05.12.2021 to 08.12.2021 to visit Himachal Pradesh National Law University & Indian Institute of Advance Studies at Shimla as academic tour and Shimla and Kufri as excursion tour for its students. It was approved by the administration with two faculties including one male and one female faculty as faculty in-charge of students from Law College. The tour was consisting of BA.LL.B. (IX Sem.) & LL.M.(I Sem.) students of SPSIL.

Start Trip

The group of total 15 delegates departed from the main gate of SVSU on 05.12.2021 at about 9.30PM and reached Shimla in early morning of 06.12.2021 at about 5.00 AM. After getting their breakfast, the student delegates left for HPNLU which is about 21 KM far from Shimla District. The group reached there at around 11.45 AM. HPNLU is established with a mission to develop well prepared law graduates capable of integrating knowledge of legal theory, practical skill and professional values; fostering an intellectual culture that bridges theory with practice and contributing to social, economic and cultural development through intellectual products which enhance the quality of life of people of Himachal Pradesh and beyond

Meet Prof. (Dr.) S.S. Jaswal, Registrar, HPNLU

Initially the delegate met Prof. (Dr.) S.S. Jaswal, Registrar HPNLU. He is a dynamic person
with law acumen. He informed students about the HPNLU and its procedure for admission. He also emphasized upon the quality of education. He permitted the students to visit the library and other parts of the HPNLU. He also had discussion with the faculty members who were accompanying the student delegates and shared his experience as administrator. He was offered with memento on behalf of SVSU. Thereafter student delegates and the faculties looked after the infrastructure and study environment there. The students visited the library and the hostel in the premises. There students saw the kind of journals and study material available there in the HPNLU library. Students spent some time in the studies there. Students were of opinion that the quality of education at SPSIL is at par to HPNLU and the library is also enrich. However HPNLU is having edge in infrastructure in comparison to SPSIL. From the library of HPNLU, students were gifted with a copy of Constitution of India and faculties were gifted with Constitution of India and two copies of journal.

On the next day i.e. on 07.12.2021 after the breakfast students went to “Jakhu Temple”, which is on the highest place in Shimla. It is on the height of 8050 feet from sea level. Some students went by tracking whereas some went by taxi, depending upon their physical health. The distance of “Jakhu Temple” is about 3.5 KM from Shimla. They also visited the temple of famous “Baba Balaknath Temple” there. This temple is just opposite to “Jakhu Temple” After that all came down and after the lunch left for Kufri camp at around 4.00 PM. It was about 30 Km far from Shimla. Due to mistakenly chosen way, all reached at around 6.00 PM at Kufri camps. There all took enjoyment of the bone-fire, music and cold. It was -3 degree centigrade temperature there. After the dinner and morning breakfast all left for fun world where students participated in adventurous activities.

Government of India and started functioning from 1965. The building was originally built in 1884-1888. Students visited the museum there and gathered information about the institute. They were told that there is zero faculty and students are only allowed to do their research work. It runs fellowship programme in the field of humanities, social science and natural & life sciences. The Institute has two fellowship programs National Fellows and Fellows. The term of National Fellows at the Institute is for a maximum period of two years. For Fellows, the backbone of the Institute, the duration of regular Fellowships ranges from a minimum of six months to a maximum of two years. This depends on the nature of work and its progress. Initially, a Fellowship is awarded for a year. While Fellows of the Institute are primarily engaged in their own research on themes approved by the Institute, the considerable formal and informal interaction amongst them encourages a healthy interdisciplinary dialogue. From April to November, the Fellows’ weekly seminar is the primary forum for formal interaction. During their term, Fellows remain in residence from April to November. From December to March, they may engage in field work, library and archival consultations outside Shimla. Upon the completion of their term, Fellows are required to submit their completed research work in the form of a monograph to the Institute. The monographs submitted by them are considered for publication by the Institute – which also retains the first right of publication.
