Panna Dhai Maa Subharti Nursing College, in collaboration with the Oncology Department of Subharti Hospital, successfully organized a two-day program to commemorate World Cancer Day on 3rd and 4th February 2026. The event was conducted with the objective of spreading awareness about cancer prevention, early detection, treatment, and palliative care among students, staff, and the community.
On 3rd February 2026, various competitions were organized at LT-4, Subharti Hospital, including Poster Making, Slogan Writing, and Reel Making Competitions. These activities encouraged creativity and awareness among participants. Nursing students from different wards, faculty members, and staff from various departments actively participated in these competitions, making the event vibrant and engaging.The program commenced with a lamp lighting ceremony by the dignitaries and staff members, symbolizing knowledge, hope, and commitment towards cancer awareness. After the inauguration, Dr. Kishore Singh, Head of the Radiation Oncology Department addressed the gathering and shared valuable insights on the importance of cancer awareness, prevention, and compassionate care for patients. The evaluation of the competitions was carried out by the HOD of the Oncology Department, senior doctors from the Oncology Department, and Dr. Ambli Venu, Professor, Panna Dhai Maa Subharti Nursing College. Their expert guidance and fair judgment ensured transparency and motivation among participants.
On 4th February 2026, the second day of the program began with a Cancer Awareness Rally. The rally started from the Nursing College with the participation of Doctors and staff of oncology department, Dr. Geeta Parwanda, Principal, PDMSNC and around 100 students and staff members. It proceeded through Gol Chakkar, reached the hospital entrance, and concluded at the Physiotherapy College. The rally successfully conveyed strong messages on cancer prevention, early detection, and healthy living. At the Physiotherapy College, the students of B.Sc. Nursing 4th Semester performed a meaningful Nukkad Natak to spread awareness about cancer, its prevention, and the importance of timely treatment. The performance was highly appreciated by the audience and effectively conveyed social messages in an engaging manner.
Following the rally, an Oncology CME, Palliative Care Talk, and Physiotherapy Session was conducted at LT–4, Subharti Hospital, with the participation of approximately 160 attendees. The sessions were delivered by distinguished experts from various disciplines. The program commenced with a lecture by Dr. Kishore Singh, Professor, Department of Oncology, who spoke on “Lifestyle in Cancer.” This was followed by Dr. Geeta Parwanda, Principal, PDMSNC, who delivered an insightful talk on the “Role of Nursing in Cancer Care.” The next session was conducted by Dr. Sumit Kant Jha on “Cancer Preventive Vaccines: Safety and Myths.” Subsequently, Dr. Jasmine Anandabai, Principal, College of Physiotherapy, presented a session on exercise for cancer prevention and overall health enhancement. The final lecture was delivered by Dr. Dhiren Nair from the College of Naturopathy on myths related to detoxification and naturopathy. The program concluded with an interactive and emotionally inspiring session titled “Meri Kahani – Meri Jubani,” where patients shared their personal journeys, motivating the participants with stories of courage and hope. Certificates were distributed to the winners of various competitions. The first prize in reel making was secured by Vipashyana, Gulista, and Shivani of B.Sc. Nursing 4th Semester. In the poster-making competition, the first prize was won by Kashish, Vanshika, Anushika, and Vanshika, while the second prize was secured by Akansha Vedwan and Twinkle, all from B.Sc. Nursing 4th Semester and at the end vote of thanks was delivered.
