The Department of Languages, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, successfully organized a formal pledge session on “No Food waste Pledge” on 9 April 2026. The session was conducted in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, with the objective of promoting environmental awareness and responsible consumption practices among students.
The key focus of the session was to encourage students to reduce food waste, minimize plastic usage, and adopt sustainable lifestyles both on and off campus.

The program commenced with an introduction to the concept of sustainable consumption and its relevance in the present environmental context. Participants were sensitized to the importance of responsible resource utilization and the need for adopting sustainable lifestyles.
During the session, students collectively took a formal pledge to follow sustainable practices and contribute towards environmental protection. The significance of individual responsibility in achieving global sustainability goals was emphasized. The session was interactive and thought-provoking, encouraging participants to reflect on their daily habits and make conscious efforts towards sustainability.
Outcomes of the Event
The Pledge Session on “No Food waste Pledge” successfully achieved its intended objectives and produced the following outcomes:

The programme was effectively conducted under the guidance of Dr. Seema Sharma, Head of the Department of Languages, with Ms. Bhavana Joshi serving as the event coordinator .The presence of esteemed faculty members- Dr. Rafat Khanam, Dr. Yeshpal, Dr. Swati Sharma, Dr. Ashish, Dr. Nishi Singh, Dr. Preeti Sharma, Mr. Ankit, and Ms. Soni Chauhan along with students from the Department of Languages, added academic value to the event. The session also provided an intellectual platform for meaningful discussion, encouraging students to connect the principles of sustainable living with broader themes of literature, history, philosophy, and cultural consciousness, thereby enriching their academic and social perspectives.
