Department of Physical Education Conducts Guest Lecture on “Self-Awareness and Emotional Intelligence for Personal & Professional Growth”
The Department of Physical Education, Faculty of Education, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University organized a Guest Lecture on “Self-Awareness and Emotional Intelligence for Personal & Professional Growth” on 12 May 2026 at the Seminar Hall, Faculty of Education. The programme was conducted to promote emotional well-being, personality development, leadership qualities, and professional competencies among students.
The session commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. Manju Adhikari, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Physical Education, who felicitated the distinguished Resource Person, Dr. Vivekanad Dey, by presenting a ceremonial shawl (Padtka) and a sapling as a token of respect and gratitude. Faculty members and students from B.P.Ed. and B.P.E.S. programmes actively participated in the session.
During the lecture, Dr. Vivekanad Dey highlighted the importance of self-awareness and emotional intelligence in personal life, professional growth, teaching, coaching, and interpersonal relationships. He discussed various dimensions of emotional intelligence, including self-regulation, empathy, motivation, stress management, communication skills, and decision-making abilities.
The speaker emphasized how emotional intelligence contributes significantly towards leadership development, teamwork, confidence building, and professional success in the field of education and sports. Interactive discussions, reflective exercises, and practical examples were incorporated into the session, making the programme highly engaging and thought-provoking.
The lecture encouraged students to understand their emotional strengths and weaknesses and develop positive behavioral approaches for managing academic and professional challenges. Students actively participated by sharing their experiences and interacting with the resource person throughout the session.
More than 40 students attended the programme and gained valuable insights regarding personality enhancement, emotional balance, and professional ethics. The programme proved highly beneficial in promoting mental well-being, self-development, and holistic growth among participants.
