In observance of National NRP Day on May 10, 2026, the Department of Pediatrics and Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Chhatrapati Shivaji Subharti hospital Meerut successfully organized a comprehensive hands-on workshop. This initiative was part of a historic nationwide effort by the National Neonatology Forum (NNF) India, aiming to train over 20,000 healthcare providers in a single day to ensure every newborn receives timely life-saving support. Objectives: To strengthen neonatal resuscitation skills among PG residents ·in Pediatrics and OBGYN. To reinforce the importance of the “Golden Minute” in reducing neonatal mortality. To provide standardized, skill based practical demonstrations for emergency neonatal care.
Key highlights:
The session was specifically designed for Pediatrics and OBGYN Post-Graduate Residents, who are the primary responders during delivery room emergencies. Hands-on Training: Conducted at the Skill Lab, the workshop utilized high-fidelity neonatal manikins. Residents practiced critical steps including airway management, positive pressure ventilation (PPV), and chest compressions. Expert Guidance: The tl11.i,ning was led I by senior faculty from the Department of Pediatrics, following the NNF India Presidential Action Plan 2026 1 guidelines. Clinical Significance: Discussions focused on the physiological transition of the newborn and the immediate interventions required when this process fails.
Conclusion: The workshop concluded with a post-training assessment to ensure skill retention. By equipping PGI residents with these essential skills at Chhatrapati Shivaji Subharti Hospita. The program significantly enhance the hospital’s capacity to manage neonatal emergencies effectively.
