WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY
The Department of Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapy of Jyotirao Phule Subharti College of Physiotherapy, SVSU, Meerut, organized a “No Tobacco Day Pledge taking ceremony” on 01 June 2026 at the college to commemorate World No Tobacco Day as per the year 2026 theme “Unmasking the appeal- Countering Nicotine and Tobacco addiction”.
The program was conducted under the guidance of Dr Surandar Kumar, Head of the department of Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapy with the objective of spreading awareness regarding the growing number of tobacco addicts especially in school going teens of Uttar Pradesh. The event was conducted under the esteemed leadership and patronage of Officiating Principal Prof. (Dr) Amit Kumar Goel, whose vision, encouragement, and unwavering support were instrumental in the successful planning and execution of the programme. The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from the teaching faculty, non-teaching staff, and students of JPSCP, reflecting their collective commitment to promoting a tobacco-free and healthier society.
The ceremony commenced with a brief introduction highlighting the significance of World No Tobacco Day and the global efforts to reduce tobacco use. The campaign focused on exposing about how the business industries of tobacco and Nicotine disguise harmful and highly addictive products to trap the new generation of youths by attractive packaging, new flavors to appeal young children.
Following the awareness session, all participants took a collective pledge to abstain from tobacco consumption and to motivate others to lead a healthy, tobacco-free life and to keep Subharti University campus tobacco free. The pledge ceremony aimed to inspire social responsibility and promote public health awareness.
The event concluded successfully with active participation and a strong commitment from all attendees towards creating a healthier and tobacco-free society. All the participants were served with a fresh chilled drink of Roohafza.
