The Swami Vivekanand Research Chair, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, successfully organized a Two-Day 3rd National Seminar on “Core Values of Swami Vivekananda’s Philosophy” on 03–04 July, 2026, marking the Mahasamadhi Day of Swami Vivekananda. The seminar concluded in a highly dignified, inspiring, and intellectually enriching atmosphere. The primary objective of the seminar was to promote meaningful academic discourse at the national level on Swami Vivekananda’s core life values, Indian Knowledge Tradition, value-based education, spiritual philosophy, nation-building, youth empowerment, and the contemporary relevance of his teachings. Eminent academicians, educationists, researchers, scholars, and students from different states of India participated enthusiastically, making the seminar an impactful platform for intellectual exchange, reflection, and national consciousness.
The programme commenced with a floral tribute and garlanding ceremony at the statue of Swami Vivekananda installed on the university campus. On this occasion, Swami Sarvalokanand Maharaj Ji, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi, graced the event as the Chief Guest, along with Prof. (Dr.) Pramod Kumar Sharma, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor; Gp. Capt. M. Yakoob, Registrar; Prof. (Dr.) Sudhir Tyagi, Dean, FASS ; Prof. (Dr.) Monika Mehrotra, Professor & Convener of the Chair & Organizing Chairperson of the Seminar; Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty members, and other distinguished dignitaries. The solemn atmosphere created by Vedic chanting and devotional prayers inspired all present and reflected the timeless ideals of Swami Vivekananda.
Following the floral tribute, the Swami Vivekanand Research Chair was formally inaugurated by Swami Sarvalokanand Maharaj Ji. In his keynote address, he remarked that Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy is a timeless source of inspiration for humanity and expressed confidence that the Research Chair would emerge as a significant centre for research, academic excellence, Indian Knowledge Tradition, moral values, spiritual studies, personality development, and nation-building.
The Inaugural Session was subsequently held at the Satyajit Ray Auditorium of the University. The dignitaries were welcomed with Tulsi planters, badges, and mementoes, symbolizing the University’s commitment to environmental consciousness and Indian cultural values.
Delivering the Welcome Address, Prof. (Dr.) Monika Mehrotra, Professor & Convener of the Chair & Organizing Chairperson of the Seminar, warmly welcomed all the distinguished guests and participants. She presented a comprehensive overview of the activities of the Research Chair and highlighted its continuous efforts towards the promotion of Indian Knowledge Tradition, Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy, value-based education, character building, and academic excellence through seminars, workshops, lecture series, and research initiatives at both national and international levels.
In his inspiring keynote address, Swami Sarvalokanand Maharaj Ji emphasized that Swami Vivekananda gifted the world the eternal values of self-confidence, service, sacrifice, spirituality, and patriotism. He stated that humanity, service, and spiritual consciousness form the foundation of Indian culture and that Swami Vivekananda’s teachings remain more relevant today than ever before.
A major highlight of the inaugural session was the release of the edited research volume, “Core Values of Swami Vivekanand’s Philosophy – Volume II (Edition-2026),” edited by Prof. (Dr.) Monika Mehrotra, Professor & Convener, Swami Vivekanand Research Chair, SVSU. The occasion also witnessed the formal launch of two new Certificate Courses titled “Swami Vivekananda’s Philosophy” and “Bhagavad Gita.” The speakers described these initiatives as significant steps towards strengthening value-based education rooted in the Indian Knowledge System in alignment with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
On this occasion, Mr. Rajib Roy and Mr. Bhaskar Roy, representatives of Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi, introduced the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Swami Vivekanand Research Chair and Ramakrishna Mission. They highlighted the collaborative academic and cultural initiatives undertaken by both institutions and delivered insightful lectures on Practical Vedanta, selfless service, national consciousness, and the global significance of Indian culture. Adi Manohar Das Ji from ISKCON, Meerut, also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of Indian culture, devotion, moral values, and spirituality while describing Swami Vivekananda as an eternal inspiration for the youth.
As part of the seminar, two Technical Sessions were conducted, where eminent scholars from universities and institutions across the country presented research papers on Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy, Indian Knowledge Tradition, value-based education, cultural heritage, nationalism, character building, spiritual consciousness, youth empowerment, and contemporary social challenges. The First Technical Session was chaired by Prof. (Dr.) Siddharth Jain, with Mr. Amit Yadav serving as Co-Chair, while the Second Technical Session was chaired by Prof. (Dr.) Bhuvnesh Kumar, with Prof. (Dr.) Ritesh Chaudhary as Co-Chair. Scholarly presentations by Dr. Preeti Singh, Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Tyagi, Dr. Ram Prakash Tiwari, and several other academicians enriched the academic deliberations.
Research scholars of the University also actively participated by presenting their well-researched papers exploring various dimensions of Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy. Subject experts appreciated their scholarly work and offered valuable suggestions for future research.
The Inaugural Session concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. Ajay Kumar Verma, Assistant Professor, Swami Vivekanand Research Chair and Organizing Secretary of the Seminar. He expressed his sincere gratitude to the Chief Guest, distinguished dignitaries, invited speakers, delegates, participants, university administration, members of the organizing committee, and all supporting departments for their invaluable contributions and wholehearted cooperation in making the inaugural session a grand success.
The Valedictory Session on the second day was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Pramod Kumar Sharma, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, as the Chief Guest. Mrs. Suraksha Pal, Former Head and Dean, Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, and Mr. Amit Yadav, Founder & Creative Director, ZOOMX Motion Pictures & Events, attended as Guests of Honour, while Prof. (Dr.) Munish C. Reddy, Pro-Vice Chancellor, and Gp. Capt. M. Yakoob, Registrar, were present as Special Guests. All the dignitaries were warmly welcomed by Prof. (Dr.) Monika Mehrotra with Tulsi planter and mementoes.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Munish C. Reddy, Pro-Vice Chancellor, observed that Swami Vivekananda’s teachings are as relevant to today’s youth as they were during his lifetime. He encouraged students to embrace self-confidence, discipline, and national service as guiding principles in their lives.
During the valedictory session, Dr. Ajay Kumar Verma, Assistant Professor, Swami Vivekanand Research Chair and Organizing Secretary of the Seminar, presented the detailed report of the two-day seminar. He highlighted that the technical sessions, research paper presentations, and academic deliberations significantly contributed to the promotion of nationalism, character building, youth consciousness, and human values.
In his Presidential Address, Prof. (Dr.) Pramod Kumar Sharma, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, described Swami Vivekananda as not merely a spiritual icon but an eternal source of inspiration for nation-building, character formation, and youth empowerment. He emphasized that the true purpose of education extends beyond acquiring knowledge to nurturing moral values, excellence of character, and social responsibility. He highly appreciated the continuous efforts of the Swami Vivekanand Research Chair towards preserving and promoting Indian culture, ethical values, and nationalist thought, and congratulated the organizing committee for successfully conducting the seminar.
During the programme, winners of various competitions organized by the Research Chair, recipients of the Best Paper Presentation Awards, and outstanding students, research scholars, faculty members, and non-teaching staff were honoured with certificates and awards in recognition of their exceptional contributions.
The programme concluded with Prof. (Dr.) Monika Mehrotra expressing heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Guests, Guests of Honour, speakers, research paper presenters, participants, university administration, organizing committee, and all supporting departments for their valuable cooperation. The Two-Day 3rd National Seminar concluded with the National Anthem in the presence of university officials, faculty members, research scholars, students, and a large gathering of distinguished guests.
The successful organization of this Two-Day National Seminar reaffirmed that Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy continues to serve as a timeless guide for education, culture, social harmony, youth development, and nation-building. It also demonstrated that the sustained academic initiatives undertaken by the Swami Vivekanand Research Chair are making a significant contribution towards the preservation, promotion, and global dissemination of the Indian Knowledge Tradition, while fostering a value-based and culturally rooted academic environment.
