One Week Short Term program on ‘Research Methodology’

The One-Week National Short-Term Programme on “Research Methodology”, organized from 13th to 17th July 2026 by the Department of Languages, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, in collaboration with the Research and Development Cell (R&D Cell), SVSU, under the aegis of the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh, Ministry of Education, Government of India, was successful academic program with deliberations, practical training, and interactive learning. The programme witnessed 122 registrations and brought together faculty members, researchers, and academicians from various institutions across the country.
The programme commenced with a grand inaugural ceremony at the Satyajit Ray Auditorium, SVSU with a welcome address by Dr. Sudhir Tyagi, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Dr. Rafat Khanam, Convener of the Programme, presented a comprehensive overview of the week-long training and highlighted its objectives and expected outcomes. Prof. (Dr.) Vaibhav Goel Bhartiya, Dean, Research and Development Cell, emphasized the significance of quality research and interdisciplinary collaboration in higher education. Dr. A. B. Gupta, Coordinator, NITTTR, Chandigarh, introduced the vision and initiatives of NITTTR while motivating participants to pursue excellence in research methodology. The gathering was further inspired by the addresses of Hon’ble Pro-Chancellor Major General (Dr.) G. K. Thapiyal, who underscored the importance of ethical, innovative, and socially relevant research, and Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) C. Munish Reddy, who, in his Presidential Address, encouraged participants to uphold academic integrity and contribute meaningfully to society through impactful research. The programme received the gracious blessings and best wishes of Hon’ble CEO, Prof. (Dr.) Shalya Raj, whose encouragement served as a constant source of inspiration to the organizing team. The inaugural session concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Dr. Seema Sharma, Head, Department of Languages, followed by the National Anthem.
The academic sessions began with Dr. A. B. Gupta’s lecture on “Research: Concept, Types and Significance,” which established a strong conceptual foundation for the programme. This was followed by session on Selecting and Defining the Research Problem, where participants gained valuable insights into identifying meaningful research problems and formulating focused research questions.
On 14th July, Prof. Anurag Srivastava, Director, Medical Research, SVSU, delivered an enlightening session on Experimental Research Design, explaining various experimental models and their applications in scientific research. The second session, conducted online by Dr. Amandeep Kaur, focused on Literature Review, where she demonstrated systematic review techniques, research gap identification, and effective use of scholarly resources. The day concluded with an engaging lecture by Dr. A. B. Gupta on Hypothesis Testing, enabling participants to understand hypothesis formulation, testing procedures, and their significance in research.
The sessions on 15th July commenced with Sampling Techniques, Scale and Scaling, presented by Dr. A. B. Gupta, who discussed probability and non-probability sampling methods, measurement scales, and their relevance in research design. This was followed by Prof. Usha Sawhney’s insightful lecture on Data Collection Tools, where she explained various qualitative and quantitative instruments and encouraged participants to adopt interdisciplinary approaches in research. The day’s final session featured a practical demonstration of the T-Test by Dr. A. B. Gupta, enabling participants to understand statistical analysis through practical examples.
On 16th July, Dr. A. B. Gupta conducted a comprehensive session on Correlation and Regression, explaining statistical relationships and predictive analysis. Dr. Faheem Ahmad then delivered a detailed lecture on Research Publications, covering research article writing, Scopus-indexed journals, peer-reviewed publications, report preparation, and publication ethics. The next session by Prof. Lubhan Singh on Use of AI Tools in Research introduced participants to emerging artificial intelligence applications that support academic research while emphasizing their ethical and responsible use. The final session of the day on Research Report Writing, conducted by Dr. Faheem Ahmad, provided practical guidance on structuring and presenting high-quality research reports.
The concluding day, 17th July, began with an advanced session on the Chi-Square Test by Dr. A. B. Gupta, followed by Research Ethics and Intellectual Property Rights by Prof. (Dr.) Vaibhav Goel Bhartiya, who highlighted the importance of academic integrity, plagiarism prevention, copyright, patents, intellectual property protection, and responsible research practices.The last session was the Valedictory Ceremony, featured an engaging participant experience and feedback session during which faculty members, research scholars, and students from various universities and institutions described the programme as highly informative, practical, inspiring, and academically enriching, appreciating the expertise of the distinguished resource persons and the learner-centric approach of the sessions. Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Seema Sharma, congratulated the participants for their enthusiastic involvement and conveyed her gratitude to NITTTR, Chandigarh, the University administration, the Research and Development Cell, the organizing committee, and all the resource persons for their invaluable support. Dr. Rafat Khanam, Convener, presented the comprehensive report of the week-long programme, highlighting the successful conduct of expert sessions while acknowledging the dedicated contributions of the organizing committee and collaborators. In recognition of his exceptional academic guidance throughout the programme, Dr. A. B. Gupta, Coordinator, NITTTR, Chandigarh, was honoured with a memento by the organizing committee. In his valedictory address, Dr. Gupta expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Department of Languages, Research and Development Cell, Convener Dr. Rafat Khanam, and the University administration for their meticulous planning, excellent hospitality, accommodation, disciplined organization, and wholehearted support, while motivating participants to pursue ethical, original, and socially relevant research as the cornerstone of nation-building and global knowledge advancement. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Vaibhav Goel Bhartiya, Dean, Research and Development Cell, who acknowledged the unwavering support of the University authorities, NITTTR, Chandigarh, distinguished speakers, faculty members, volunteers, organizing committee, and participants for making the programme a grand success.
The ceremony was gracefully compered by Vidhi Goswami, M.A. English student, Dr. Shipra and Ms. Soni Chauhan in the esteemed presence of Prof. Pintu Mishra, Dean, Faculty of Fine Arts; Dr. Sudhir Tyagi, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences; Prof. (Dr.) Seema Sharma; Prof. (Dr.) Vaibhav Goel Bhartiya; Dr. A. B. Gupta; Dr. Manisha; Dr. Nishi; Dr. Akanksha; Dr. Preeti; Dr. Shipra; Dr. Vijay; Mr. Anki; Dr. Swati; Ms. Soni; Ms. Bhavna; Ms. Sanya; Dr. Nisha Singh; Dr. Sarika Abhay; Dr. Mukesh Ruhela; and Dr. Shweta Bhardwaj, along with faculty members from various departments, university students including Bhumi, Fahad, Yashika, Jyoti, Prachi, and Pragya, and more than 100 teachers, research scholars, and participants from institutions across the country. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
The programme received an overwhelmingly positive response, with participants appreciating the relevance of the topics, the expertise of the resource persons, the practical orientation of the sessions, and the excellent organization of the event. The overall participant feedback rating of 4.82 out of 5 stands as a testament to the programme’s quality, academic excellence, and impact. The successful completion of the programme marks another significant milestone in Swami Vivekanand Subharti University’s commitment to promoting research excellence and fostering a vibrant research culture aligned with national and global academic standards.
