Talk on ‘Role of Mental and Spiritual Wellness for Success and Peace’

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, successfully organised an insightful talk on ‘Role of Mental and Spiritual Wellness for Success and Peace’ on 19.08.2026 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. as part of the second day of the five-day Deeksharambh 2026–27 Orientation Programme. The five-day orientation programme, being conducted from 18th to 22nd August 2026, aims to familiarize newly admitted students with the university’s academic environment, support systems, facilities, and campus life.
The session was organised with the objective of creating awareness among newly admitted students about the significance of mental and spiritual wellness in achieving success, maintaining inner peace, managing academic pressure, and leading a balanced and meaningful life.
The session was delivered by Dr. Rahul Bansal, Professor & Advisor, Wellness Centre. Dean of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences welcomed him and informed students about the importance of mental peace and overall well-being. Dr. Rahul Bansal focused on the importance of maintaining mental and spiritual well-being and developing a healthy, balanced, and positive approach towards academic and personal life.
The programme commenced with formal introduction highlighting the significance of mental and spiritual wellness in student life. Dr. Bansal discussed various factors that influence mental well-being, including academic pressure, stress, distractions, lifestyle habits, and emotional challenges. He guided students on the importance of maintaining a positive mindset, managing time effectively, staying focused on their goals, and developing healthy daily routines.
The speaker also highlighted the significance of spiritual wellness in maintaining inner peace and emotional balance. He explained that practices such as meditation, mindfulness, self-reflection, prayer, and maintaining a positive attitude can help individuals remain calm, focused, and resilient in challenging situations. Students were encouraged to devote time to practices that promote inner peace and help them maintain harmony between their mind, body, and emotions. Dr. Bansal further emphasised the importance of staying away from unnecessary distractions and developing self-discipline. He encouraged students to make conscious choices, maintain healthy relationships, and focus on activities that contribute positively to their personal growth and overall well-being.
The session was interactive and engaging, with students actively participating and listening attentively to the speaker. The students were encouraged to raise questions and share their experiences related to academic stress, adjustment to university life, and maintaining emotional balance.
Objectives of the Session
- To create awareness among students regarding the importance of mental and spiritual wellness.
- To highlight the role of a healthy mind and peaceful inner self in achieving academic and personal success.
- To provide students with practical approaches for managing stress, anxiety, and academic pressure.
- To encourage students to develop healthy habits, mindfulness, self-discipline, and a positive outlook towards life.
Outcomes of the Event
The talk produced the following outcomes:
- Students developed a better understanding of the importance of mental and spiritual wellness in academic and personal life.
- The session helped students recognize the relationship between inner peace, emotional balance, and successful academic performance.
- Students gained practical insights into managing stress, distractions, and academic pressure.
- The session encouraged students to adopt healthy habits, mindfulness, self-discipline, and positive approaches to life.
- Students were motivated to maintain a balanced lifestyle and develop practices that support their mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Faculty members from the Department of Languages, Department of Liberal Arts, Department of Home Science, Library and Information Science, Defence Studies, School of Buddhist Studies, and Department of Journalism & Mass Communication were present during the Day–2 programme. Their presence reflected the collective commitment of FASS towards providing holistic support and a positive learning environment for newly admitted students.
The coordinators included Dr. Santosh from the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication; Dr. Kiran Rani Pawar from the Department of Liberal Arts; Dr. Akanksha Dwivedi from the Department of Home Science; Dr. Alpana from Library and Information Science; Ms. Komal Tripathi from Defence Studies; and Dr. Sridha Jha from the School of Buddhist Studies.
The Wellness Coordinator of the Department of Languages, Ms. Soni Chauhan, was present throughout the lecture and played a crucial role in coordinating and facilitating the session.
The event was anchored by Divya, a BA II Year student, and Mehak, a BA Psychology (Honours) student from the Department of Liberal Arts. The active participation of faculty members, coordinators, students, and staff members contributed to the successful conduct of Programme.
The programme concluded with sincere appreciation to Dr. Rahul Bansal for his valuable guidance and insightful session and to all faculty members, coordinators, students, and staff members for their active participation and contribution towards making the programme meaningful and successful.
