Teachers’ Day Celebration
The Department of Library and Information Science, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, organized a program to mark the occasion of Teachers’ Day on 05.09.2026. The event was aimed at highlighting the significant role of teachers in the lives of students, expressing gratitude for their guidance and dedication, and further strengthening the bond between teachers and students. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sudhir Tyagi, Dean Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences remarked that teachers not only impart subject knowledge but also play a vital role in shaping students’ personalities, cultivating analytical thinking, instilling moral values, and guiding their future direction. He noted that Teachers’ Day is observed in commemoration of the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was himself an eminent teacher, educationist, and philosopher, and that the day serves as an inspiration to imbibe his ideals and contribute, through education, to the building of society and the nation. He further observed that in today’s evolving academic environment, the role of teachers has become even more expansive, as they inspire students to keep pace with emerging technologies, changing requirements, and social challenges, alongside the acquisition of knowledge. He added that, particularly in the field of Library and Information Science, teachers guide students in the effective use of information, the creation of knowledge, and the understanding of the meaningful role of knowledge resources in society. During the celebration, students expressed their respect and gratitude towards their teachers and, through various activities, presented the dignity and emotional significance of the teacher–student relationship, describing their teachers’ guidance, cooperation, and inspiration as an important foundation for their academic and personal growth. The program concluded with heartfelt wishes extended to all teachers on the occasion of Teachers’ Day, along with an expression of gratitude for their invaluable contribution to teaching, mentorship, and nation-building. The celebration stood as a fitting symbol of the Guru–Shishya (teacher–student) tradition, respect, gratitude, and commitment to education. The event was attended by Dr. Javed Khan, Dr. Sapna Sharma, Dr. Alpana, Ms. Shalini Tyagi, Ms. Bhavana Joshi, and all members of the departmental staff, all of whom highly appreciated the programme, which was made successful through the enthusiastic cooperation of the student community.
