Administration of UNSDG Pledge And 100% Renewable Energy Pledge during
Student Orientation and Faculty Induction Program

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences successfully administered the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) and 100% Renewable Energy Pledges on September 18, 2026. In alignment with the University’s core commitment to global sustainability and climate action, the pledges were integrated into the faculty’s on going Student Orientation Program. This initiative follows the mandate resolved during the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) meeting held on July 22, 2026 under Agenda No. 58.

Prof. Sudhir Tyagi, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, along with the Heads of various Departments, addressed the significance of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) and 100% Renewable Energy Pledges .  Dr. Rafat Khanam led the pledge and everyone repeated after her.

The target audience for the event included all newly admitted students and newly inducted faculty members, with the core objective to foster active participation, deep awareness, and long-term stakeholder engagement with global sustainability standards. For the Pledge on Commitment to the United Nations SDGs, attendees solemnly committed to integrating the 17 UNSDGs into their academic, research, and daily lives, focusing heavily on promoting equality, justice, quality education, and sustainable communities. Under the 100% Renewable Energy Pledge, participants vowed to champion energy conservation, reduce carbon footprints, and actively support the university’s transition toward clean, sustainable energy alternatives.

Objectives

  • To instil a lifelong commitment to clean energy by motivating campus stakeholders to adopt and advocate for renewable resource alternatives.
  • To transition the campus community toward zero-emission targets through personal and collective commitments to sustainable power sources.
  • To align institutional academic and operational practices with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to address global environmental challenges.
  • To foster actionable civic responsibility by translating macro-level sustainability goals into localized, everyday student and faculty initiatives.

Outcomes

  • Embedded global sustainability principles into the academic orientation of new students and faculty members.
  • Enhanced campus literacy regarding resource conservation, waste reduction, and carbon footprint mitigation.
  • Promoted environmental and civic accountability across all sister academic branches.
  • Compiled and submitted a comprehensive compliance report with verified participant data and photographic evidence for permanent institutional record-keeping.

 The successful organization and administration of this program was carried out under the leadership of Dean Prof. Sudhir Tyagi, Chief Coordinator Dr. Rafat Khanam, and Co-Coordinator Dr. Santosh Kumar Gautam, with the active coordination and support of faculty members Dr. Kiran Rani Panwar, Dr. Komal, Dr. Akanksha Singh, Dr. Shridha Jha, Dr. Akanksha Dwivedi, Prof. (Dr.) Ritesh Chaudhary, Dr. Rahul Bansal, Mr. Shammi Saxena etc. more than hundred participants of FASS witnessed the participation of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Department of Languages, Department of Library and Information Science, Department of Liberal Arts, Faculty of Buddhist Studies, Defence Academy, and the Department of Home Science.
