The Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Department of Home Science organized an insightful Guest Lecture on “Indian Socio-Cultural Influence on Identity Development” to provide students with a deeper understanding of the role of Indian socio-cultural factors in shaping individual identity and personality development. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Aradhana Kaul Kathju, Consultant Psychologist and Psychotherapist, Vasundhara Hospital Ltd., Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Through her expert insights and engaging interaction, she highlighted the significance of family, culture, social environment, traditions, values, and interpersonal relationships in the development of identity. The programme was organized and was coordinated by Dr. Shalu Nehra for the students support and SDG Goal; Healthy Lives and Promoting Well-being. The session provided students with an opportunity to interact with an experienced professional and gain practical perspectives on psychological and socio-cultural dimensions of identity development. The guest lecture witnessed active participation of students and faculty members. The interactive session encouraged students to reflect on the influence of Indian cultural values and social surroundings on individual identity formation and psychological development. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Gaur to the distinguished speaker for sharing her valuable expertise and insights. The successful organization of the lecture reflected the Department’s commitment to academic enrichment, holistic development, and meaningful interaction between students and professionals.
