“Analytical Techniques – From Fundamentals to Applications”

Keral Verma Subharti College of Science, Department of Chemistry and Forensic Science organized a Guest Lecture on “Analytical Techniques: From Fundamentals to Applications” on 4th April 2025 in the Conference Hall of the college under the supervision of Prof. (Dr.) Renu Mavi, Head, Department of Chemistry & Dean, Faculty of Science. The session was delivered by Dr. Mukti Verma, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, who is a distinguished academician and researcher in the field of chemical and instrumental analysis.

The main objective of this guest lecture was to provide students with a strong conceptual understanding along with practical relevance of analytical techniques that are extensively used in chemistry and forensic science. The session was attended by more than 70 participants.

Dr. Verma provided a comprehensive overview of key analytical techniques, focusing on spectroscopy, chromatography, and microscopy. She discussed methods such as UV-Visible, IR, NMR, AAS, TLC, HPLC, and GC, highlighting their applications in research and industry. Advancements in optical and electron microscopy, as well as emerging AI-driven tools and portable instruments, were also covered.

The session included an engaging Q&A segment, where students actively participated and received insightful responses on topics like instrumentation, data interpretation, and career opportunities. Dr. Verma emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary skills, continuous learning, and guided students on various career paths in analytical and forensic sciences. The lecture significantly enhanced students’ problem-solving and analytical reasoning skills while inspiring them to pursue further studies and research.

Faculty members from both Chemistry and Forensic Science departments actively participated in the session. The event was successfully hosted by Ms. Pragati Jain, Lecturer in the Department of Forensic Sciences, whose enthusiastic compering contributed to the smooth flow and overall success of the program. The students found the lecture highly informative and intellectually stimulating. They expressed a strong interest in attending more such sessions in future that blend academic learning with practical insights into advanced scientific techniques. The department looks forward to organizing more such expert interactions to enrich student knowledge and academic exposure.
