The eco-warrior club of Faculty of Science has organized an event on the occasion of World Earth Day on 22.04.2022. The event celebration was started with Maa Saraswati Vandana by the students followed by a lamp lighting ceremony with the presence of our Dean Sir and all the HODs/In Charge-HODs of various departments.
Prof. (Dr.) Mahavir Singh inaugurated the event with a short lecture on the importance of Earth Day to awareness and motivate the students. The event was organized in collaboration with two departments i.e. Department of Biotechnology and the Department of Agriculture. The student participation in activities was open to all the colleges of the University. The activities include Poster and Oral presentations and the theme of the event was “Invest in our planet”.
The oral presentation was organized in the Seminar Hall of the old building, Science College, and the Poster presentation on the ground floor of the new building, Science College. The oral presentation event was coordinated by Dr. Devendra Kumar and Dr. Khyati Lehari of the Department of Biotechnology. There were a total of 29 participants and 4 jury members viz., Prof. Sangeeta Dayal (Department of Botany), Dr. Shashi Bala (Department of Chemistry), and Dr. Mohd. Israil (Department of Physics) and Dr. Renu Mavi (Department of Chemistry). They have judged the students on the basis of their performances and presentation skills. The top 3 students in both the events get facilitated with shields by the Dean, Faculty of Science. Rishabh (BA-LLB from Sardar Patel Subharti Institute of Law), Aryan Sharma, (B.Sc. Agriculture from Keral Verma Subharti College of Science), and Khushboo (B.Sc. Zoology from Keral Verma Subharti College of Science) got 1st, 2nd, and 3rd position respectively in an oral presentation.
The poster presentation event was coordinated by Dr. Anuj Yadav and Dr. Kalpana Bisht of the Department of Agriculture. There were 29 students of different branches and colleges viz., Agriculture, Biotechnology, BCA, Nursing participated with great zeal, and 04 jury members viz. Dr. Vinay Panwar (Department of Zoology), Dr. Shashiraj Teotia (Department of Computer Application), Dr. Aftab Alam (Department of Mathematics), and Dr. Ekta Gupta (Department of Physics). They have judged the students on the basis of their performances and presentation skills. The top 3 students in both the events get facilitated with shields by the Dean, Faculty of Science. All the posters were logical and presented in a very good manner. It was tough on the part of the jury to judge and the results are as follows: First Position: Anjali Sharma (B.Sc. Nursing), Second Position: Kanika Sharma (B.Sc. Agriculture), Third Position: Nidhi and Nikhil (B.Sc. Biotechnology)
The event was hosted by Students of Science College. A lot of views and knowledge were shared by students on the theme of the event i.e. Invest in our planet and a healthy discussion was done. The event was successfully completed with a vote of thanks and all the students would like to participate in such events again in the future if they got the opportunity.
