The event also witnessed the gracious presence of Dr. Ritu Kang Walia, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, R.K.S.D. (PG) College, Kaithal, Haryana, as the Guest Speaker, who provided students with valuable guidance and insightful information.

In his address, Dr. Suraj Walia stated that the present era is marked by rapid economic, technological, and social transformations. In such a changing scenario, Economics is no longer merely an academic discipline but has emerged as an important medium for shaping the direction of society and national development. He emphasized that Economics provides a deep understanding of resource management, employment generation, poverty alleviation, economic policies, financial management, and global markets.

Addressing the students, he highlighted that the growing influence of the digital economy, Artificial Intelligence (AI), globalization, climate change, and population growth has further expanded the relevance and importance of Economics. He mentioned that in the coming years, issues such as economic inequality, unemployment, environmental crises, and technological changes would emerge as major challenges before the global economy. According to him, only those young minds equipped with economic understanding, research aptitude, analytical skills, and social sensitivity would be capable of addressing these challenges effectively.

He further motivated students not to limit Economics merely to examinations and marks, but to use it as a tool for understanding the real problems of society and the nation. He encouraged them to contribute actively towards nation-building through continuous learning, research, and innovative thinking.

Thereafter, Dr. Ritu Kang Walia delivered her insightful lecture and stated that in the modern era, Economics is no longer confined to money and markets alone; rather, it has become a powerful and practical medium for understanding human life, social development, employment, policy-making, and international relations. She emphasized that in today’s competitive and technologically advanced world, the subject of Economics offers numerous new opportunities for students.

She explained that the role of Economics is continuously expanding in areas such as the digital economy, startup culture, e-commerce, financial management, data analytics, public policy, and banking sectors. Therefore, students should not restrict themselves to theoretical knowledge alone but should also develop a practical, research-oriented, and skill-based approach.

She further stated that the global economy in the future would continue to face challenges such as unemployment, economic disparity, environmental imbalance, technological transformation, and global competition. In such circumstances, the responsibility of youth becomes even greater to contribute positively towards society and nation-building through innovation, research, and constructive thinking.

In her inspirational message, she encouraged students to make proper use of their knowledge, hard work, discipline, and skills, assuring them that by doing so, they would not only build a bright future for themselves but also play a significant role in the vision of “Developed India”. She extended her best wishes for the bright future of all students and motivated them to continue learning and progressing in life.

During the programme, students actively interacted with the experts and raised questions related to contemporary economic issues, career opportunities, research prospects, and global economic changes. The experts responded in a very simple, effective, and engaging manner, creating an interactive atmosphere that generated greater awareness and interest among students towards the subject.

In the concluding session, Prof. (Dr.) Monika Mehrotra expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all the guests, faculty members, and students. She stated that the valuable ideas and experiences shared by the experts would prove highly beneficial and inspirational for the academic and professional future of students. She further remarked that such expert lectures play a vital role in strengthening students’ knowledge, personality development, and research-oriented outlook.
