Free Dietary Consultation Camp in Mehrauli, Partapur, Meerut
The Shaheed Baba Deep Singh, Department of Home Science, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut successfully organized a Free Dietary Consultation Camp in Village Mehrauli, Partapur, Meerut, on 19th April’25 under Unnat Bharat Initiative with the aim of promoting nutritional awareness and healthy eating habits among the local community. The camp specifically catered to villagers, school teachers, and school students, offering them personalized dietary advice and nutritional counselling. A dedicated team of nutrition experts of the Home Science Department, Ms. Swati Sharma and Ms. Urvashi Sharma provided free consultations based on individual health needs based on age groups, gender specific, and lifestyle patterns. M.Sc. Food and Nutrition and B. Sc. Home Science Students from the department of Home Science, actively participated in the camp and a healthy discussion took place. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the local population. Villagers placed queries related to their specific health issues such as thyroid, diabetes, hypertension, anaemia, malnutrition, weight loss and calcium deficiency. Villagers expressed gratitude for the initiative, highlighting the importance of such outreach programs in rural and semi-urban areas. School teachers and students actively engaged in the sessions, showing a keen interest in learning about balanced diets, essential nutrients, and healthy lifestyle choices. At the end of the program printed pictorial pamphlets were distributed containing information such as what to eat and what to avoid under specific disease conditions. The camp not only helped in spreading nutritional awareness but also strengthened the bond between the institution and the community. The Department of Home Science is committed to continuing such initiatives for the betterment of public health and community development.
