On October 4, 2025, at 9:30 a.m., the Department of Languages, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, organized a grand and graceful Fresher’s Party to welcome the new students. The event was not merely a cultural gathering but also a reflection of the university’s glorious tradition, values, education, and warmth. The excitement and curiosity on the students’ faces, along with the teachers’ affectionate guidance, created a familial and cordial atmosphere. The auditorium was beautifully decorated with colorful adornments, flower garlands, and vibrant lights. The stage was specially designed to enhance the aesthetic appeal of every performance.
The program began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp before the idol of Goddess Saraswati. The holy flame illuminated not just the hall but also symbolized knowledge, purity, and energy. The event was graced by the Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Prof. Sudhir Tyagi, Principal, Allied and Health Sciences, Prof. Pankaj Mishra, Principal, Polytechnic College, Prof. S. C. Tiwari, and Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Sokindra Kumar. Their esteemed presence made the occasion even more distinguished and memorable.
After the lamp-lighting ceremony, senior students welcomed their juniors with a tilak and warm smiles, symbolizing the Indian tradition of respect and togetherness. The gesture beautifully represented the harmony of knowledge and values. The sentiment, “True education teaches humility, and true values teach respect,” was reflected in every face. The program was skillfully anchored by three talented students of the department—Vidhi, Samya, and Kanishka. Their eloquence, poise, and precision in presentation ensured a smooth, engaging, and well-coordinated flow of the event. Their confident stage presence demonstrated that the Department of Languages is not only a hub of literary learning but also a cultivator of expression and art. On this occasion Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Pramod Sharma and CEO, Dr. Shalya Raj showered their blessings to students of Department of Languages.
Dr. Seema Sharma, Head of the Department of Languages, extended a warm welcome to all guests and new students. In her address, she remarked, “Education is not merely a means to acquire knowledge, but the art of living life meaningfully.” Her inspiring words filled the students with motivation, enthusiasm, and self-belief. She also introduced them to the university’s proud traditions of discipline, dedication, and excellence—instilling a sense of seriousness and responsibility toward learning.
In his address, Prof. Sudhir Tyagi stated, “A true student is one who makes discipline the ornament of life.” He reminded the students that a university is not just a place for earning degrees but a center for personality development, social responsibility, and character building. He emphasized that education should aim not only at academic excellence but also at contributing to the welfare of society.
Prof. Sudhir Tyagi, Dean of the Faculty of Languages, remarked, “Language is not merely a medium of communication, but a carrier of culture.” He encouraged students to realize that studying language is not confined to words—it involves understanding civilization, history, and traditions. He urged them to use literature as a means to nurture sensitivity, creativity, and social awareness.
Prof. S. C. Tiwari, Principal of Polytechnic College, added a musical touch to the program by singing the soulful song “Dosti Imtihaan Leti Hai.” His performance filled the auditorium with emotion and received a thunderous round of applause.
Prof. Pankaj Mishra, Principal of Allied and Health Sciences, motivated students with his message: “Success comes to those who persevere and never give up.” He reminded them that failures are valuable experiences that pave the path to future success.
Dr. Sokindra Kumar, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, emphasized the importance of time, urging students to value every opportunity as time is the greatest teacher.
The cultural segment followed, where students showcased their talents. Ritik captivated the audience with a melodious song, while Anshika Thakur, Chhavi, and Khushi performed graceful dance numbers that displayed a perfect blend of rhythm, expression, and coordination. Their performances received loud applause, filling the hall with excitement and joy.
The highlight of the celebration was the announcement of the “Fresher of the Year” results.
From the B.A. stream, Miss Fresher – Jia and Mr. Fresher – Arya were crowned, while from M.A. stream, Miss Fresher – Khushi Bhardwaj and Mr. Fresher – Anshu Singh received the titles. Anshika Thakur was honored for Best Dance Performance. These moments became symbols of pride and inspiration for both the students and the department.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Seema Sharma, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the organizing committee, students, guests, and supporting staff. Her words reflected deep appreciation and pride in the department’s collective effort.
