The Department of Fine Arts, Nandalal Bose Subharti College of Fine Arts & Fashion Design, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, successfully organized a thought-provoking guest lecture on the topic “Shiva’s Benevolent Sculptures” on October 6, 2025.
The program commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. The guest was felicitated with a traditional stole by Dean Prof. (Dr.) Pintu Mishra, while the Head of the Department, Dr. Pooja Gupta, honored the guest with a plant sapling. The event organized by Dr. Vandana Tomar with the guidance and support of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Pramod Kumar Sharma, Chief Executive Officer Prof. (Dr.) Shalya Raj, and Dean Prof. (Dr.) Pintu Mishra.
The distinguished guest speaker, Dr. Shanti Swaroop Sinha, Associate Professor at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi delivered an insightful lecture highlighting the profound symbolic, aesthetic, philosophical, and Buddhist dimensions of “Shiva’s Benevolent Sculptures.” He emphasized the significance of Indian sculpture and temple art, presenting a detailed analysis of the visual depictions of Lord Shiva in his benevolent forms.
The lecture witnessed active participation from faculty members, students, and research scholars, who deeply appreciated and benefitted from the enriching discourse. The success of the program was made possible through the dedicated contributions of Dr. Sonal Bhardwaj, Dr. Pavanendra Tiwari, Dr. Anshu Srivastava, Dr. Ashish Mishra, Lucky Tyagi, Priyanka Singh, and others.
