REPORT ON GUEST LECTURE ON GENDER SENSITIZATION ON Equality in the Kitchen: Men & Women as Chefs
Introduction
A Guest Lecture on Gender Sensitization was conducted on Saturday, 08 November 2025 at the Multi-Purpose Hall of Bhikaji Cama Subharti College of Hotel Management from 10:00 AM onwards. The lecture was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Harveer Singh, Director, Sunderdeep College of Hotel Management, SDGI Global University, Meerut. The topic of the session was “Equality in the Kitchen: Men & Women as Chefs”. A total of 66 students and 5 faculty members participated in the program. The purpose of the session was to create awareness about equality, inclusiveness, and mutual respect in professional culinary environments. The speaker highlighted the need to break traditional gender stereotypes in kitchens by emphasizing that culinary skills, creativity, leadership, and professionalism are not defined by gender. The lecture encouraged students to adopt a progressive, unbiased, and collaborative approach in their future hospitality careers.
Objectives of the Session
- To create awareness among students about gender equality in hospitality workspaces, particularly kitchens.
- To address common stereotypes and biases related to men and women working as professional chefs.
