Department of Physical Education Organizes Guest Lecture on “Career Transition after Track and Field”

The Department of Physical Education, Faculty of Education, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University organized a Guest Lecture on the topic “Career Transition after Track and Field” on 09 May 2026 at the Seminar Hall, Faculty of Education. The programme was conducted with the objective of creating awareness among students regarding career opportunities, professional development, and life transitions after active participation in athletics and track & field sports.

The session was graced by the esteemed Resource Person, Mr. Pankaj Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Physical Education, Hindu College, Moradabad. The programme commenced with a formal welcome address by Dr. Manju Adhikari, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Physical Education, who warmly welcomed the resource person, faculty members, and students. Dr. Atul Kumar Tiwari introduced the resource person to the audience and highlighted his academic and professional contributions in the field of physical education and sports.

During the lecture, Mr. Pankaj Singh elaborated on various dimensions of career transition for athletes after track and field participation. He discussed opportunities in teaching, coaching, sports administration, fitness industries, sports management, officiating, sports entrepreneurship, and higher education. The speaker also guided students on skill development, career planning, personality enhancement, and adapting to professional life after competitive sports participation.

More than 30 students from B.P.Ed. Second Year actively participated in the session. The lecture was highly interactive, with students engaging in discussions and raising queries related to career prospects and professional growth in the sports sector. The session provided practical insights into real-life challenges and opportunities faced by athletes during career transition phases.

One of the major highlights of the programme was the emphasis on holistic career planning and the importance of developing transferable skills such as leadership, communication, teamwork, discipline, and adaptability. The resource person also motivated students to pursue continuous learning and professional certifications to enhance employability in the field of physical education and sports sciences.

The programme proved to be highly informative and beneficial for the students as it broadened their understanding of diverse career pathways available after active sports participation. Students gained valuable knowledge regarding professional opportunities, career management strategies, and the importance of preparing for long-term career sustainability beyond athletics.
