Keral Verma Subharti College of Science, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University (SVSU), Meerut organized a Special Guest Lecture on “Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and the Abolition of Untouchability under the Constitution of India” on 25th April 2025 as part of the fortnight-long celebration of Ambedkar Jayanti. The event took place at Madan Mohan Malviya Auditorium, SVSU, from 11:00 AM onwards.

The program began with the gracious presence of Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Kumar Chaubey, Dean, Faculty of Science; Dr. Prem Chandra, Associate Professor, Department of Law, Dr. Seema Sharma, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Languages and Dr. Subhash Chandra Tiwari, Dean, Polytechnic College. The auspicious event commenced with the lamp lighting ceremony, invoking a positive and scholarly ambiance.

Following the lamp lighting, a felicitation ceremony was conducted where eco-friendly planters were presented to the invited guest speakers—Dr. Prem Chandra Sir and Dr. Seema Sharma Ma’am.

The event featured two enlightening lectures. Dr. Seema Sharma addressed the social dimensions and visionary principles laid out by Dr. Ambedkar, emphasizing his role in ensuring equality and dignity for all. Dr. Prem Chandra presented a detailed analysis of the constitutional frameworks that aimed to abolish untouchability, highlighting the relevance of these provisions in present times.

The presence of faculty members and students from various department highlighted the commitment to fostering the fostering intellectual growth, social awareness, and national values among its students. The session provided a valuable platform for students and faculty to reflect on the legacy of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, one of India’s greatest social reformers and the chief architect of the Indian Constitution. A quick questioning session followed the lectures, allowing students to interact directly with the speakers and seek clarifications on important issues.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Shashiraj Teotia, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Computer Applications. He extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Dean Sir, faculty members, HoDs, non-teaching staff, members of the Cultural Committee, and students for their enthusiastic participation. The event was coordinated by the Cultural Committee of KVSCOS, comprising under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Kumar Chaubey, Dean, Faculty of Science.

This initiative aligns with the college’s ongoing efforts to promote academic excellence and critical thinking. The successful execution of the special lecture demonstrates the university’s continued commitment to fostering intellectual growth, social awareness, and national values among its students.
