The session aimed to align with Sustainable Development Goal 3, which focuses on ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being at all ages.

Objective of the Lecture:

It also sought to provide students with a foundation for making informed health choices that could benefit their personal lives and professional careers.

Guest Speaker:
The keynote speaker for the session was Dr. Mukesh Ruhela, a renowned health and wellness expert with years of experience in clinical medicine, public health education, and lifestyle management. Dr. Ruhela is known for his practical approach to health and his commitment to spreading awareness about holistic well-being. His engaging style and relatable insights captivated the audience and inspired thoughtful dialogue throughout the session.

Event Proceedings and Highlights:
The event commenced at 10:00 AM with a welcome speech by the Principal of Bhikaji Cama Subharti College of Hotel Management. Faculty members, administrative staff, and students gathered in the multipurpose hall, which was decorated to reflect the spirit of World Health Day. The welcome address was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and floral greetings for the speaker.

Dr. Mukesh Ruhela began his lecture by outlining the core dimensions of health. He stressed the importance of not viewing health merely as the absence of illness, but as a dynamic state of complete physical, mental, and emotional wellness. He discussed the following key areas:

  1. The importance of maintaining a balanced and nutritious diet, especially for hospitality professionals whose energy levels and stamina need to be consistently high.
  2. The necessity of regular physical exercise, not just for fitness but also to regulate stress hormones, improve sleep quality, and support cardiovascular health.
  3. The impact of poor lifestyle choices, such as smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, erratic sleeping patterns, and reliance on processed foods, and how these can contribute to chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and obesity.
  4. Stress management techniques were presented with practical demonstrations. These included breathing exercises, mindfulness meditation, and time management practices.
  5. The significance of preventive healthcare measures such as routine checkups, vaccinations, hygiene practices, and health screenings.
  6. The role of positive mental health in overall well-being. Dr. Ruhela encouraged students to express emotions, seek help when needed, and maintain healthy social relationships.
  7. Simple but effective daily habits were suggested, such as drinking adequate water, eating fresh fruits and vegetables, avoiding excessive screen time, and maintaining consistent sleep cycles.

The session was highly interactive. Students actively participated by asking questions about diet planning, workout routines suitable for busy schedules, managing anxiety during exams or internships, and the role of supplements in daily life.
