The Department of Languages, Rahul Sankrityayan Subharti School of Linguistics and Foreign Languages celebrated Halloween Day on 31 October 2025 through a special French cultural activity organized in collaboration with LeFreHindi under the MoU. The event aimed to introduce students to French cultural traditions connected to La Toussaint (All Saints’ Day) while engaging them in fun, creative activities. Under the guidance of Ms. Jyoti Yadav, French Language Trainer, students decorated the language room with Halloween-themed artwork, French vocabulary posters, pumpkins, masks, and cut-outs, creating a vibrant and festive learning atmosphere.
Objectives of the Event:
The event was organized with the objective of familiarizing students with French cultural traditions related to Halloween and La Toussaint, while promoting interactive and activity-based learning of the French language. It also aimed to enhance students’ creativity, teamwork, and cultural awareness through engaging tasks and collaborative decoration activities. Additionally, the celebration sought to further strengthen the Department’s collaboration with LeFreHindi under the existing MoU, ensuring enriched cultural and linguistic exposure for the learners.
Outcome of the Event:
The event enabled students to gain basic knowledge of French Halloween-related creative tasks like the Vocabulary Match-Up and the French Monster Description & Mask-Making activity, students were able to confidently practice simple French sentences in an enjoyable manner. The celebration also fostered teamwork, cultural appreciation, and greater enthusiasm for language learning among the participants. Moreover, the collaboration with LeFreHindi was effectively utilized to enrich student learning through meaningful cultural immersion.
Feedback
Students expressed that the event was enjoyable, interactive, and helpful in learning French vocabulary in a fun manner. Faculty members appreciated the creativity demonstrated by the students and emphasized the importance of incorporating cultural activities into language learning.
Conclusion
The event was graced by Dr. Seema Sharma, Head of the Department of Languages, who encouraged student participation. Dr. Rafat Khanam, In-charge of English and Foreign Languages, appreciated the efforts of the students and highlighted the importance of celebrating cultural festivals as a way to enhance linguistic and global understanding. Faculty members Dr. Ranveer Singh, Dr. Abhijeet Sharma, Dr. Ashish Kumar, Dr. Manisha Luthra, and Ms. Sanya Agarwal were also present. French Language students Palak Aron, Avanya Chauhan, Harleen Kaur, Mohit Kumar, Sanjeev Yadav, and Charu Bisht actively participated. The event was actively attended by Yashika Raj, Bhumi, Mohd. The Halloween French Activity successfully achieved its objectives by creating an engaging environment where students could learn, participate, and explore French culture beyond the classroom. The Department of Languages looks forward to organizing more such events to enhance linguistic and cultural exposure for students.
