Hangeul Celebration

On 17th December 2024, Department of Languages, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences in collaboration with IKBCCcelebrated Hangeul, commemorating the creation of the Korean writing system by King Sejong the Great in 1443. The event aimed to promote cultural awareness and appreciation for the Korean language among students.

The celebration began with an inspiring speech from the Korean trainer Mr. Rahul Kumar, emphasizing the historical significance of Hangeul. Korean student Aditi performed the national anthem in Korean, adding a patriotic touch.Students showcased traditional Korean activities, songs, and game portraying the invention of Hangeul. A highlight was the Korean game which captivated the audience with its grace and elegance.

Korean trainer informed about food varieties and dishes like kimchi, bulgogi, and tteokbokki and Students enjoyed learning about the cultural significance of these foods. This engaging activity offered a fantastic opportunity for individuals to quickly master the Korean alphabet. Participants learnt Hangeul and had the chance to practice essential Korean greetings, such as “Hello,” “Good Morning,” “Thank You,” and “I’m Sorry.” By the end of this focused session, learners acquired knowledge of both the alphabet and basic conversational skills which enhanced their ability to communicate basic Korean greetings Korean. Dr. Rafat Khanam, In-Charge of English and Foreign Languages quoted that the aim of this Hangeul Celebration was to connect everyone with Korean language and expanding the language skills. She further informed thatthe activities were conducted to aware students and faculty members with Korean language and Culture.

The Hangeul Day celebration was a resounding success, fostering a deeper understanding of Korean culture and history. Students left with enhanced knowledge and appreciation for Hangeul and its cultural heritage. The event was both educational and enjoyable, leaving lasting memories for all participants. Ms. Samia was the master of ceremony. During the Program Prof. Rajeshwar, Dr. Rafat Khanam, Dr. Ashish, Dr.Nishi, Ms.Swati, Mr. Rahul Kumar and ,Fahad ,Bhumi, Samiya, Kanishka, Vidhi, Ayushi, Ananya and Aditiwere present.
