Inauguration of “Shakti Kendra” for Female Students

Department of Languages, Faculty of Arts and Social Science, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University Inaugurates “Shakti Kendra” for Female Students

On Meerut, November 8, 2024, The Department of Languages, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, in collaboration with the Bhartendu: Literary and Cultural Club, successfully inaugurated the “Shakti Kendra.” under Mission Shakti Phase 5.0. This dedicated centre aims to address and resolve grievances raised by female students, aligning with the university’s commitment to women’s safety, empowerment, and gender equality under the broader Mission Shakti initiative.

The Shakti Kendra is a significant step forward in achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5, emphasizing gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls. Designed to provide a secure and accessible platform, the centre ensures female students can voice their concerns and receive timely assistance and resolutions.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from distinguished faculty members, including Dr. Seema Sharma, Dr. Rafat Khanam, Dr. Rajeswar Pal, Dr. Ranveer, Dr. Ashish, Dr. Nishi Raghav, Dr. Anuj Bawara, and Dr. Farha Hashmi, along with Ms. Swati Sharma. Students from the Department of Languages and representatives of the Bhartendu Literary and Cultural Club also attended, showcasing their dedication to the centre’s mission.

In her addresses, Dr Seema Sharma, Head, Department of Languages, highlighted the importance of empowering women and creating an environment where every student feels safe, respected, and supported. Faculty members pledged their commitment to ensuring Shakti Kendra fulfils its goals effectively.

With this initiative, the Department of Languages, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, along with the Bhartendu: Literary and Cultural Club reinforces its dedication to fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment for all students. The Shakti Kendra is expected to play a pivotal role in promoting gender equality, ensuring female students’ well-being, and empowering them to excel in both academic and personal endeavours.
