Industrial Visit to
Media Houses, Theater and Art Institute
Students of Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Subharti Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, visited some media houses, theater and art institute alongwith offices of News Agency in Noida and New Delhi. During this industrial visit, the students first visited the national repute TV channel “News 24” located in Film City, Noida. Here the students saw and understood the entire process from news compilation to its broadcast in a live form. Along with this, the technical process taking place at various stages of the channel was also seen which included the process of live news broadcast in Production Control Room (PCR), Master Control Room (MCR), News Room, Satellite Linking, Channel’s Archive and Master Studio. They also saw and understood the nuances of voice over.
The students interacted with the heads of various divisions of the channel and news anchors and understood their working style.
Overall, during this trip the students gained a unique perspective on the broadcasting and media industry. They gained a new insight into the operational aspects of television studios, including content creation, broadcast technologies and media management. During this, General Manager (Academics and Business Development) of News 24 Amit Chauhan and Ashraf Ali (Production In-charge) were present.
After this the students visited the world famous National School of Drama (NSD) located at Mandi House, New Delhi. On this occasion, the director of the institute and famous artist Chittaranjan Tripathi, while informing the students about the activities of the institute, praised the fact that they(students) came from Meerut to visit NSD. He said that media and theater have a mutual relationship which is unbreakable. On this occasion, Shantanu Basu, Dean Academics and Dharamveer Singh, ADR were present.
In the continuation of the visit, the students visited Indira Gandhi National Center for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi, where Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi, Member Secretary IGNCA, addressed to the students in detail the importance of the Indian knowledge system. He said that today media and culture complement each other. Therefore, innovative students of media should work to make art and cultural heritage reach the common people. On this occasion, IGNCA’s media controller Anurag Punetha, Dr. Shruti Nagpal, Deepak Bhardwaj, Rajiv Ranjan Sinha and Chandan Pandey were present.
As the next stop of this industrial visit, the students went to the Broadcasting House located at Sansad Marg, New Delhi and understood the functioning of various departments of All India Radio Centre. During this, the students also saw the microphone through which Gandhiji addressed the nation during his only visit to this All India Radio centre. After this, the students got information about the qualities required to become a radio jockey from RJ Babita Jain and Sanjeev Kumar of Vividh Bharati, a channel of All India Radio. In this sequence, the students also met All India Radio’s Duty Room Officer Intizar Ali Saifi and got information about his activities. During this, M S Rawat, Station Director, All India radio and his colleague Devendra Rai were present.
After a detailed visit of AIR the students went to United News of India (UNI) and observed the working of the news agency. Here the agency’s editor in chief Ajay Kaul told the students that to become a successful journalist, they should have knowledge of books as well as the practical knowledge, apart from this students should study newspapers regularly so that they can get information about various current affairs. Through this they (students) can have a grip on the subjects of daily routine, which is absolutely essential for a successful journalist.
Prof. (Dr.) S.C. Thaledi, teachers of the department like Ram Prakash Tiwari, Madhur Sharma and Shelly Sharma were present during the visit.
