Interactive talk session on World Patient Safety Day
World Patient Safety Day, observed on the 17th of September every year, serves as a global platform to emphasize the importance of patient safety in healthcare systems worldwide. Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Department of Home Science aiming to create awareness and inspire students to make patient safety a top priority, ultimately striving to eliminate avoidable errors and harmful practices within healthcare settings organized an Interactive Talk session on 18th Sept 2023.
During the session Ms. Urvashi Sharma, Assistant Professor sensitized students about the importance of patient safety and how Home Science students need to understand their responsibilities as Dietitians, nutritionists, Counsellors, therapists, etc. when they come in contact with patients. Further, this year’s theme” Engaging patients for patients” was discussed with students to make them aware that for patient safety, proper knowledge and clear communication of the condition, treatment whether diet, surgery, or therapy session should be made with the patient, his/her family and caregivers.
In the end, the students were taught about a few important patient safety activities that they should learn like CPR, First Aid, etc.
The session was successfully conducted under the guidance of Dr Nishma Singh, Head of the Home Science Department.
