A lecture was organized in the Department of Liberal Arts and Humanities, on “Central Vigilance Commission – Structure, functions and role” under the subject “Vigilant India- Prosperous India” on the birthday of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel in compliance with UGC letter no. F] 30-57/2012 (CVO) dated 20.9.2023 on 31st October 2023. The Objective of the lecture was to spread awareness and transparency in Governance and Public Administration and to contribute in the campaign on the theme, “Say No to Corruption; Commit to the Nation” in the Vigilance Awareness Week which is being observed from 30th October to 5th November 2023. The program was initiated by the welcome address by the respected Dean sir Dr. Sudhir Tyagi, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. He informed the students that the Central Vigilance Commission adopts several strategies in effective implementation of its mandate to fight corruption and the Central Vigilance Commission observes Vigilance awareness Week every year in the week in which the birthday of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel falls. This year we should take a determination to say no to all kinds of corruption to make India a corruption free and great nation.

The lecture was followed by the speaker of the day, Dr. Manoj Kumar Tripathi, the Head Department of Liberal Arts and Humanities. He enlightened the students with absolute information about the central Vigilance commission, its structure and functioning and Role. He started the lecture with the basic information that Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) is an apex Indian governmental body which was created in 1964 to address governmental corruption. It was set up by the Government of India Resolution on 11 February 1964, on the recommendations of the Committee on Prevention of Corruption, headed by K. Santhanam, to advise and guide Central Government agencies in the field of vigilance. He further informed that C.V.C. is the active institute which works day and night. He informed the students that this commission also has a toll free number, on which immediate action is taken on complaints. The lecture was concluded by Dr. Manoj kumar Tripathi that We endeavor to promote integrity and eradicate corruption with the active support and participation of all the citizens, including our students and faculty members. Dr. Amrita Chaudhary informed that The Central Vigilance Commission is the apex vigilance institution which is independent from the control of any executive authority and supervises all vigilance activities under the Central Government and also coordinates various authorities in Central Government organizations in planning, executing, Provides advice regarding review and improvement.

Dr. Rafat Khanam said that this ‘Central Vigilance Week’ is one of the participatory anti-corruption vigilance initiatives and we should try to achieve the objective of this week by being more sensitive towards ethics and transparency in governance and public administration.

Dr. Durvesh said that we, as a citizen of India, should work for building India a developed nation and should be determined to deny to the corruption. The program was coordinated by Dr. Amrita Chaudhary, Co-cordinator Dr. Durvesh Pundir and and Dr. Poonam.

The program was followed with the pledge ceremony on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) by the respected Dean Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, to re-affirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity, integrity, and security of our country. All the students and faculty members with the absolute patriotic feelings followed the words of Dean sir and the program ended with the harmony and the nationalistic feelings. Dr. Amit Kumar remained the coordinator of Pledge ceremony.

During the Program, Dr. Niyati Garg, Dr. Rafat Khanam, Dr. Durvesh Pundir, Dr. Amit Kumar, Dr. Ankit Kumar, Dr. Manas kandi, Dr. Amrita Chaudhary, Dr. Poonam were present.
