About the Lecture
Data collection is an important aspect of research. In order to collect the requisite data for any theme of research, the researcher has to apply appropriate tools or suitable measuring techniques and decide on the relevant attributes of the samples drawn. There are several research tools, varying in design, operation, the complexity of features, and interpretation. In certain situations, the researcher may select from a list of available tools.
In other situations, the researcher may find that existing research tools do not suit the purpose or objective of research and, therefore, the researcher may need to modify or develop it. Appropriate steps need to be followed in the construction of self-made tools so that the reliability and validity are confirmed. This results in valid and reliable data and subsequent authenticity of the research. The standardization procedure in the construction of research tools becomes essential in order to maintain the consistency and accuracy of the collected data. The standardization process is crucial for the relevance of data.
This lecture will prove beneficial for graduate and postgraduate students, all types of researchers, and faculty members.
