National Seminar on Core Values of Swami Vivekananda’s
Philosophy Organized by Swami Vivekanand Chair
The Swami Vivekanand Chair of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, in collaboration with the Department of Liberal Arts and Humanities, organized a national seminar on the core values of Swami Vivekanand’s philosophy. The seminar was held on the Mahasamadhi day of Swami Vivekanand and took place in the Satyajit Ray Auditorium.
The seminar commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp in front of Swami Vivekanand’s portrait by the esteemed guests.In her address, Prof. Dr. MoniKa Singh praised Swami Vivekanand’s role in spreading the strength of India’s culture and spirituality worldwide, establishing India’s reputation globally. She lauded Subharti University’s efforts in introducing the country’s culture to new generations and urged students to follow Swamiji’s ideals.
Major General Dr. G.K. Thapliyal paid tribute to Swami Vivekanand, emphasizing his guidance to the youth in transforming society through education. He highlighted Swamiji’s influential speech in America and Subharti University’s commitment to adopting his ideals of education, service, values, and nationalism.
Swami Sarvalokananda Ji Maharaj spoke about Swami Vivekananda’s emphasis on youth and values, highlighting the importance of character and spirituality. He urged the young generation to draw inspiration from Swami Vivekanand’s dedication to his Guru, Swami Ramakrishna Paramhansa. He praised Subharti University’s role in promoting these values and inspiring the nation.
Girish Tyagi delivered a detailed lecture on key events in Swami Vivekanand’s life, stressing the need to imbibe his teachings. Dr. Subhash Gautam emphasized the importance of incorporating Swamiji’s lessons into our lives, and Dr. Snehveer Pundir expressed that following Swami Vivekanand’s teachings would empower the nation’s youth to achieve great things.
Dr. Monika Mehrotra, Chairperson of the seminar, highlighted the university’s initiatives to instill Swamiji’s thoughts in the younger generation. She described the university’s infrastructure named after various great men, aimed at introducing students to Indian culture.She also discussed the research and various works being done by the Swami Vivekanand Research Chair on aspects related to Swamiji’s life.
The seminar included online and offline 2 technical sessions where research papers were presented, along with a book and picture exhibition based on Swami Vivekananda’s life.
The program was anchored by Dr. Farha Hashmi and Dr. Anuj, with a vote of thanks given by Dr. Sudhir Tyagi, Dean of FASS. Notable attendees included Dr. Manoj Tripathi, Dr. Niyati Garg (Programme Co-Organizing Secretary), Dr. Durvesh Pundir (Programme Co-Organizing Secretary), Dr. Pradeep Bharti Gupta, Dr. R.K. Ghai, Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Dr. Pintu Mishra, Dr. Anoj Raj, and Dr. Seema Sharma. Special contributions to the event were made by Dr. Niyati Garg, Dr. Durvesh Pundir, and Dr. Ashwini Kumar.
