Sardar Patel Subharti Institute of law, under the patronage of Hon’ble Dean, faculty of law, Dr. Vaibhav Goel Bhartiya, commemorated National Youth day in the divine memory of Swami Vivekananda which was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm on 12th January, 2021. The notice of the event was circulated to the students and faculty members on January 9th, 2021.
To venerate the birth anniversary of one of the greatest pioneers of this country an awakening lecture on the topic Indian Constitution and Ideals of Swami Vivekanand was delivered by Ms. Ana Sisodia, Assistant Professor. In the lecture, Vivekananda’s ideas and principles on which he based his ideal model of education were emphasized.
The importance of responsibilities in an individual’s life was also told to the audience which was the core of Swami Vivekanand’s teachings and principles.
She further stated that how Vivekananda believed that “education is the manifestation of perfection already in men” which is directly reflected in the Indian Constitution too. According to him, it was unfortunate that the existing system of education did not enable a person to stand on his own feet, nor did it teach him self-confidence and self-respect. Character building along with service to the nation was highlighted as the true meaning of education.
The lecture was followed by a quiz competition conducted on the life of Swami Vivekananda in which students ardently participated and were also rewarded for every correct answer.
The event ended with a keynote address by the revered Dean, Faculty of Law, Dr. Vaibhav Goel Bhartiya. He highlighted the importance of a student’s character for his/her development. He also stated that how Swami Ji considered it as a mistake to suppose that pleasure is the goal; the cause of all the miseries we have in the world is that men foolishly think pleasure to be the ideal to strive for.
After a time man finds that it is not happiness, but knowledge, towards which he is going, and that both pleasure and pain are great teachers, and that he learns as much from evil as from good. As pleasure and pain pass before his soul, they leave upon it different pictures, and the result of these combined impressions is what is called man’s “character.”
The event was successfully attended by all faculty members and approx 30 students, respectively.
