Poster Making Competition Organized on World Wetlands Day

On 02 February 2026, the Department of Education, Faculty of Education, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut organised a Poster Making Competition on World Wetlands Day. The programme was held at the Seminar Hall, Department of Education, Faculty of Education, in collaboration with the University Environmental Committee. The activity was directly aligned with Sustainable Development Goal–6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and supported SDG–3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG–13 (Climate Action), and SDG–15 (Life on Land).

On this occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Pramod Kumar Sharma, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut; Prof. (Dr.) Shalya Raj, Chief Executive Officer, SVSU, Meerut; Lieutenant Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Kumar, Dean, Faculty of Education, SVSU, Meerut, and Prof.Dr.Indira Singh, Head Department of Education, Faculty of Education conveyed their best wishes and blessings for the successful organization of the programme on the occasion of World Wetlands Day

The primary objective of the programme was to create awareness among students about the importance of wetlands and their role in clean water and sanitation. It also aimed to sensitise students towards environmental sustainability, biodiversity conservation, and human well-being, while encouraging creativity, environmental responsibility, and active participation through poster making.

The programme commenced with a brief introductory address on the significance of World Wetlands Day by Dr. Anoj Raj, Professor, Department of Education, Faculty of Education, SVSU, in which she highlighted the crucial role of wetlands in maintaining ecological balance and safeguarding human life. The poster making competition was judged by Dr. Mumtaj Sheikh, Associate Professor Department of Education and Dr. Anoj Raj, Professor, Department of Education, Faculty of Education, who evaluated the posters based on creativity, relevance to the theme, clarity of message, and presentation.

Students participated enthusiastically and confidently presented their posters in their own words, reflecting a strong understanding of the theme. Through their posters, students effectively demonstrated awareness regarding clean water, sanitation, biodiversity conservation, and environmental sustainability. In the competition, Fiza, B.El.Ed IV Semester secured the First Position, Harshika Tyagi, B.El. Ed IV Semester secured the Second Position, and Saloni, M.Ed. II Semester achieved the Third Position. The entire activity was successfully coordinated by Dr. Reeba Devi and Dr. Reshu Rani, Assistant Professors, Department of Education, Faculty of Education.

The programme proved to be highly successful in achieving its objectives. Active student participation, creative expression, and confident presentation made the event meaningful and impactful. The activity significantly enhanced students’ awareness of wetlands, Sustainable Development Goals, and environmental conservation, thereby making the celebration of World Wetlands Day effective and purposeful. At the conclusion of the programme, the Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. Reeba Devi, Event Coordinator, expressing gratitude to all participants, judges, and everyone associated with the successful organization of the event.
