On the occasion of Rahul Sankrityayan Jayanti, a special program was organized on 9 April 2025 by the Rahul Sankrityayan Subharti School of Linguistics and Foreign Languages (Department of Languages), Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut. The objective of the event was to shed light on the life, literary works, and multifaceted contributions of Mahapandit Rahul Sankrityayan.

Dr. Seema Sharma, Head of the Department of Languages, welcomed the guests and highlighted the intellectual contributions of Rahul Sankrityayan in the fields of travel literature, linguistics, philosophy, and history. She stated that he was honored with the title ‘Mahapandit’ for his exceptional contributions to Hindi literature, history, and philosophy. He was also awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award and is regarded as one of India’s foremost intellectuals who brought knowledge closer to the common people.

The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Prof. Rajeshwar Pal, Dr. Nishi Raghav, Dr. Preeti Sharma, Dr. Swati Sharma and Sanya Agrwal  among others. All speakers reflected on the relevance of Rahul Sankrityayan’s thoughts in contemporary times and shared valuable insights.

The program was skillfully anchored by students Bhoomi and Ritik Dheegan. Students Akanksha Dheegan, Chanchal Dheegan, Vidhi Goswami, Vidhi Chauhan, and Fahad also expressed their thoughts inspired by the life and vision of Rahul Sankrityayan.Students paid tribute to the great scholar through speeches, presentations, and discussions. All students of the department participated enthusiastically and contributed to the success of the event. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Swati Sharma.

The objective of the programme was to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahapandit Rahul Sankrityayan, a legendary scholar, writer, and thinker of India. The event aimed to familiarize students and faculty with his vast contributions in literature, travel writing, philosophy, linguistics, and social reform. It encouraged critical reflection on the contemporary relevance of his ideas and inspired participants to uphold the values of intellectual curiosity, social responsibility, and interdisciplinary learning.

The experiential learning outcomes included enhanced understanding of Sankrityayan’s life and works, improved public speaking and analytical skills through active participation, and deeper appreciation for cultural and academic diversity. The event also fostered a sense of scholarly inquiry and community engagement among students.
