On the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami, Rani Chennamma Girls Hostel situated within the campus of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, witnessed a magnificent and devotional celebration of Saraswati Puja. The event served as a vibrant embodiment of the harmonious convergence of education, culture and moral values.
The programme was meticulously organized under the able guidance and supervision of Professor (Dr.) Monika Mehrotra, Senior Warden of RCGH and RGGH hostels. Its primary objective was to instill in students a deep reverence for knowledge, arts, cultural heritage and ethical principles.
In the evening, amidst the resonant chanting of Vedic hymns and an atmosphere suffused with devotion, the idol of Goddess Saraswati—divine embodiment of wisdom, learning and eloquence was ceremonially installed. The sacred rituals were performed with utmost solemnity by hostel wardens Mrs. Samta, Mrs. Antim, Mrs. Upma, and Mrs. Reena who offered prayers for the student’s bright future, academic excellence and creative flourishing.
The entire hostel precinct was tastefully adorned with yellow blossoms and vibrant spring decorations creating an ambiance of spiritual upliftment and festive joy. Following the puja, a cultural programme was held wherein students enthusiastically participated, presenting a rich tapestry of songs and dance performances. These presentations seamlessly blended classical and folk traditions, captivating the audience and reflecting the students multifaceted talents. Their creativity, discipline and teamwork lent the event a distinguished dignity.
In her address, Professor (Dr.) Monika Mehrotra expounded upon the significance of Basant Panchami, describing it as a symbol of knowledge, renewal and creative energy. She exhorted students to pursue lifelong learning uphold moral values and contribute responsibly to society. She also commended the cooperation and discipline of the hostel warden and students emphasizing that such celebrations play a pivotal role in holistic personality development.
