The resource person explained that Civic Science is an interdisciplinary approach that integrates scientific knowledge, critical thinking, and active citizen participation to address societal and environmental challenges. It emphasizes the development of a scientific temper—the ability to think rationally, question logically, and base decisions on evidence—while encouraging citizens to take responsible actions for the welfare of society.
Under the theme “Scientific Temper and Civic Responsibility for a Sustainable Society,” Civic Science highlights the role of informed and conscious citizens in protecting the environment, conserving natural resources, and promoting sustainable development. It fosters awareness about environmental issues such as climate change, pollution, biodiversity loss, waste management, and public health, and encourages community participation in finding scientific and ethical solutions.
