The talented students of the Department of Music and Performing Arts at Swami Vivekanand Subharti University have brought laurels to their university by excelling in various musical disciplines at the divisional and state levels, in competitions organized by the Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Akademi under the Ministry of Culture, Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Akademi organizes competitions in various musical disciplines such as vocal music, instrumental music, and dance at the divisional level every year. Students who secure first place at the divisional level are invited to participate in the state-level competition. This competition is held in all 19 divisions of Uttar Pradesh. Students from Subharti University first secured first place in the Meerut division in Indian classical dance (Kathak) and vocal music, and then participated in the state-level competition held in Lucknow. Students who had secured first place from all 19 divisions of Uttar Pradesh participated in this competition. Among them, Vanya Bhagat, a second-year B.P.A. a student in Kathak dance, Jyoti Krishna, a second-year student of vocal music, and Alia Khan, also a student of the vocal music department, participated and achieved success. In this competition, Jyoti Krishna secured first place in Ghazal singing, Vanya Bhagat secured second place in Kathak dance, and Alia Khan secured second place in Thumri singing. The victorious students were congratulated by the university’s Executive Officer Professor Shalya Raj, Vice-Chancellor Professor Pramod Sharma, Faculty Head Professor Pintu Mishra, Head of Department Professor Bhavna Grover, and all the teachers of the Performing Arts Department, including Dr. Shweta Chaudhary and Dr. Deepak Singh.
