“Surya Namaskar – A Step Towards a Fit India” Program Successfully Organized
Meerut, November 4, 2025 — The Department of Physical Education at Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, in collaboration with the Women’s Empowerment Committee (Mission Shakti 5.0), organized a special program titled “Surya Namaskar – A Step Towards a Fit India.” The main objective of this event was to increase health awareness among students and promote the “Fit India” movement.
The program began with the blessings and inspirational message of Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Dean of the Faculty of Education. In his address, he stated that Surya Namaskar is not just a yoga practice, but a path to a balanced and healthy lifestyle. He encouraged students to practice yoga regularly and spread health awareness within their families and society.
A total of 105 students actively participated in the program. The students performed the twelve steps of Surya Namaskar collectively, infusing energy and positivity in the atmosphere. All participants participated with enthusiasm and discipline.
Program coordinator Dr. Nishant Kumar explained that Surya Namaskar is an important part of Indian tradition, symbolizing the balance of body, mind, and spirit. He added that such activities enhance physical fitness, mental focus, and self-confidence in students.
During the program, teachers and students from the Physical Education Department worked together to make the event a success. The active participation of the Women’s Empowerment Committee made the event even more impressive.
At the end of the program, all participants were thanked and a pledge was taken to further the “Fit India” campaign. The entire event conveyed the message that “a healthy mind resides in a healthy body,” and traditional yoga exercises like Surya Namaskar are a powerful step in this direction.
