In an Initiative to create positive connection and Inspiration between Alumni and Students, Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Department of Home Science organized a Virtual Alumni Talk on 30th September 2022.The spokesperson for the webinar was successful alumni of the Department Ms. Swati Sharma, who is an active freelancer in the field of Dietetics and imparts her knowledge of therapeutic diets to the community. She was also the topper of M.Sc. Food & Nutrition 2018-2020 batch. The Alumni Talk was addressed on a very burning topic of present era “Health & Fitness in perspective view of Non-communicable diseases”. Students participated enthusiastically and were very much encouraged by seeing their Alumni with such store of knowledge to share. The Virtual talk was smoothly conducted by Ms. Urvashi Sharma, Assistant professor (Member of the Alumni Committee) under the guidance of HOD Dr. Nishma Singh. Dr. Nishma Singh gave the guest speaker a hearty welcome and commenced the session. Ms. Swati talked about the importance of the right diet and sufficient daily physical activity to prevent Non -communicable diseases. She also emphasized on the consumption of Nuts and Seeds, good fat and complex carbs over simple carbs. In the end, she advised the students to avoid fad diets such as keto diets without Dietitian or Doctor’s advice. To conclude the talk Ms. Urvashi Sharma gave vote of thanks for the wonderful session to the guest, faculty and students for their presence.
