Workshop on
the 131st anniversary of Swami Vivekanand’s Chicago speech
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose got the inspiration of spirituality and nationalism from Swami Vivekanand. This statement was made by Major Dr. Deshraj Singh, Chairman of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Chair of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut. Speaking at the workshop organized on the completion of 131 years of Swami Vivekanand’s historic speech in Chicago, he said that Netaji is one of those great revolutionaries of the world who taught the lesson of freedom and harmony not only to the Indian people but also to the entire world that freedom is the natural right of humanity.
Presiding over the program in this workshop organized in the Conference Hall under the aegis of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Chair, the Head of the Department Prof. Dr. Subhash Chandra Thaledi threw light on the ideological relationship between Netaji and Swami Vivekanand. He said that Netaji was influenced by Swamiji’s thoughts in his teenage years itself. Prof. Ashok Tyagi, coordinator of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Research Centre, described the influence of Swami Vivekananda on Netaji by giving some examples.
BAJMC second year student Nitesh Tiwari chanted the vedic mantras. At the end of the program, Harshul Sharma recited the speech given by Swami Vivekananda on 11 September 1893 at the Chicago religious gathering in Hindi.
This workshop was organized by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Research Centre. The program was successfully hosted by Assistant Professor Ram Prakash Tiwari and the vote of thanks was given by Assistant Professor Shikeb Majeed. In this program, teachers Madhur Sharma, Mukul Sharma and all the students of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication and Computer Applications were present.
